Something special in your community

Year-round the Town of Paradise hosts an array of events. Seasonal events are planned throughout the year which offer residents and visitors an opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the community spirit of Paradise. The two main festivals for the Town are Snow and Ice, the annual Winter Carnival in Paradise held in February and SunSplash Paddle In Paradise, the summer celebration held annually in August.

 Snow & Ice in Paradise

This year marks the 23ed Snow & Ice in Paradise Festival! The fun begins February 9 and runs through to February 19. Some of the great activities we have planned include:

50+ Adventure Club Anniversary Dinner & Dance

This year marks the 31st anniversary for the 50+ Adventure Club. On Saturday, January 20, become a member of the Club and join in for their annual Dinner and Dance. This Dinner is a chance to celebrate the organization with Paradise Town Council, local MHA's and other 50+ Clubs from around the Avalon. For more information, please call (709) 782-3838.

Those interested in joining the 50+ Adventure Club must be at least 50 years of age (when couples are involved only one person has to be 50+ for both to join). The fee for membership is $10 for each person, ($5 of which is forwarded to the Provincial organization to register you as a member of Newfoundland and Labrador Pensioners and Senior Citizens/50 Plus Federation).

St. Patrick's Day Skating

Be sure to wear green on Saturday, March 17 for St. Patrick's Day Skating at the Paradise Double Ice Complex, sponsored by 3% Realty. This free skate runs from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and includes random draws and prizes for the most spirited outfit. There are also free cookies and hot chocolate so don't miss out on the fun. The cost for admission is a donation of one non-perishable food item in support of the Paradise/CBS Food Bank.

Brunch with the Easter Bunny

Join the Easter Bunny for brunch at the Paradise Double Ice Complex on Saturday, March 31. There will be free bouncy castle rides, colouring stations, and great prizes to be won! Kings Photography will be available to offer photography and instant printing on site.

Time slots for this event are as follows: 8:40 to 10:00 a.m.

10:10 to 11:30 a.m.

11:40 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

1:10 to 2:30 p.m.

This event costs $5 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets are available early at the Paradise Double Ice Complex (cash, credit or debit are accepted). Advance ticket purchase is recommended. 

Municipal Awards 2018

The Municipal Awards provide us with a chance to formally recognize the accomplishments and talents of those who help to make Paradise the great community it is. This is the second year that the Municipal Awards are also recognizing the outstanding commitment of our business community. More exciting details about these awards will follow early in the new year.

If you know someone who excels in any of the following categories, nominate them for a 2018 Municipal Award! The Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 17. Award categories are as follows:

  • Junior Male Athlete of the Year (18 years and under) 
  • Junior Female Athlete of the Year (18 years and under)
  • Male Athlete of the Year (19 years and over)
  • Female Athlete of the Year (19 years and over)
  • Coach of the Year
  • Youth of the Year (18 years and under)
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Volunteer Group of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year
  • Business Awards (Business Excellence and Property Pride)
