Something special in your community

Year-round the Town of Paradise hosts an array of events. Seasonal events are planned throughout the year which offer residents and visitors an opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the community spirit of Paradise. The two main festivals for the Town are Snow and Ice, the annual Winter Carnival in Paradise held in February and SunSplash Paddle In Paradise, the summer celebration held annually in August.

Paradise Municipal Awareness Day: May 10, 9 a.m.

Join us as we celebrate Municipal Awareness Day! Learn about the Town, what we do and how we operate. We'll also be joined by community groups including; Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, Rovers Search and Rescue, Fire Department and others. We look forward to seeing you there.
Neighbourhood Watch Information Session: May 10, 7:30 p.m.

Neighbourhood Watch is a community-based crime prevention program designed to improve the quality of life within neighbourhoods by minimizing preventable crime and promoting closer community ties. As part of Municipal Awareness Day, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary will host a Neighbourhood Watch information session at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. Join us 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 at the Paradise Double Ice Complex to learn more about this program.

Hockey Heroes: May 26 - 28

Hosted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Hockey Heroes Weekend takes place May 26 - 28 at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. This event offers participants an opportunity to support a great cause and play hockey with NHL alumni. Some of the greatest NHL players have shared the ice with Hockey Heroes Weekend participants. In the past four years we've had Paul Coffey, Ray Bourque, Denis Savard, Gary Roberts, and more. With another unforgettable line-up shaping up this year, Hockey Heroes is sure to be an excellent event for participants and sponsors alike.

With spring here and the snow gone, we need your help to get our Town in tip top shape! Join us for our Curby Clean-Up Day to lend a hand. Gloves, bags and sticks will be available for residents to use. We also encourage all residents to wear appropriate clothing and foot wear as there will be wet areas that need to be cleaned.

For 2017 the first 50 people to sign-up will receive a $15 Cineplex gift card. All registered participants are entered to win the grand prize of a $500 Avalon Mall Gift Card. 50+ Paradise Wellness Expo: June 10, 12 p.m.

Time: 12 - 5 p.m.

Location: Hedley Blundon Gymnasium, Paradise Double Ice Complex

The 50+ Paradise Wellness Expo showcases different resources available to seniors, followed by some fantastic food and live entertainment. The Expo is opened to anyone over the age of 50 from communities across the province. Here is what you can expect this year:

  • Displays from different types of businesses and hospitality groups
  • Special guest speakers (food, fitness, financial consultants, insurance, travel, and more)
  • Live entertainment
  • Prize give-aways

Memorial Day Ceremony: July 1, 10:55 a.m.

Location: War Memorial, Town Hall

Our special Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Town Hall War Memorial, starting at 10:55 a.m. Please join us as we pay our respects for all fallen soldiers, and commemorates the brave efforts of the province's veterans. To lay a wreath during the ceremony, please call 782-6290, or email.

Canada Day in Paradise Park: July 1, 1 p.m.

The Town of Paradise is proud to host its Annual Canada Day Celebrations. Come out and join in the fun with a full day of free activities to celebrate Canada 150! The goal of the Canada 150 is for people all across Canada to participate in local, regional, and national celebrations that contribute to building a sense of pride and attachment to Canada on its 150th birthday.

The fun begins in the afternoon with a great offering of activities. The celebration will feature a free BBQ, large bouncy castle rides, games provided by Frontline Action, and face painting courtesy of Pixy Mama. Thomas Amusements will also be on site (admission will be charged for rides). There will be an all-day concert at the new bandstand in Paradise Park beginning at 2:45 p.m. The fun ends at 9:40 p.m. with the closing fireworks. The 90th Annual TELY 10 Road Race: July 23, 8 a.m.

Time: 8 a.m.

Location: Paradise - Mount Pearl - St. John's

The 90th Annual TELY 10 Mile Road Race will once again kick off in Paradise. The TELY 10 is Newfoundland's premier road race, and is believed to be the third oldest road race in Canada and one of the oldest in North America. Visit their website for additional information.

Korean War Veteran Day: July 30, 10:55 a.m. (Moved to indoor location)

NOTE: Due to the weather, our Korean War Remembrance Ceremony will be held in the Hedley Blunden Gymnasium at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. The ceremony begins at 10:55 a.m. this morning (Sunday, July 30).

Location: War Memorial, Town Hall

The Korean War began on June 25, 1950, and the active fighting ended on July 27, 1953, with the signing of the Korea Armistice Agreement. Approximately 7,000 Canadians continued to serve in the tense theatre of operations between the signing of the Armistice and the end of 1955, with some Canadian troops remaining until 1957. Each year a memorial is held on the last Sunday in July to remember those who lost their lives and to honour the bravery of our Canadian soldiers.
