Looking to get active? The Town of Paradise offers several fitness programs! From beginner to advanced classes, we have a variety of options to help you get healthy and active.

Winter Classes

Registration for our 2019 winter classes opens 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2 and is available online only through the Town’s Recreation Portal. For more information, or if you have any questions on our classes, please email or call (709) 782-6290 .

Get out and embrace our chilly months with a fun and active fitness season! Classes start on Monday, January 7, 2019.

General Classes

Spin Class
Spin ClassTime: Monday or Wednesday - 7:00p.m.

Cost: $84 for one 12 week time slot, or $8 per class (when space is available).

Spin Class is an effective workout that allows you to train in the offseason or for healthy living. Offering varied routines, spin class is suitable for all ability levels and is sure to burn calories.

Core Fitness
Time: Saturday - 10:00 a.m.

Cost: $60 for one 12 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

A strong core is a vital ingredient to a strong body. This class will challenge you front to back while helping to improve your coordination and balance with the use of  functional, balance, and body weight exercises. This is a full-body workout with an emphasis on core exercises

50+ High/Low Aerobics
Time: Monday - 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday - 9:30 a.m.

Cost: $96 for one 12 week time slot (two classes per week), or $5 per class (when space is available).

High/Low Aerobics is designed to increase your heart rate and improve oxygenation throughout the body. It combines traditional, low-impact aerobics with higher impact strength-training movements to create a comprehensive fitness routine that supports heart health and weight loss. Have fun while getting physically and mentally fit

Strength & Conditioning
Time: Tuesday - 6:30 p.m.
Cost: $60 for one 12 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).
Strength and Conditioning is a full-body workout using various types of exercise equipment. This program has a class structure and alternates each week between circuit training and traditional style exercises. Choose the weight and intensity that best challenges you for a fantastic workout in a fun and upbeat atmosphere. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.
Multi Fit
Time: Thursday - 6:30 p.m.

Cost: $60 for one 12 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

Looking for variety in your workout that includes all disciplines of fitness in the one class? With cardiovascular, functional, and strength training exercises, this class is for you! With modifications available, this class is suitable for all fitness levels in a high energy group setting. 

HIIT

Time: Monday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $60 for one 12 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is an interval training technique that can be used for both cardiovascular and strength exercises. Put your best effort forward and prepare for quick 20 second bursts of exercise, followed by 10 seconds of recovery. This style of workout is sure to get your heart pumping and keep fat burning with high energy music and a variety of exercises!

Stem & Resistance

Time: Wednesday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $60 for one 12 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

A classic upbeat cardio workout that will keep your heart and lungs in shape! Follow the fun choreography with easy-to-follow dance moves and step patterns, paired with an extra element of resistance training to help strengthen and build your muscles. Exercises can be modified and are suitable for all fitness levels.  

  

Yoga Classes

Beginner Yoga
Time: Monday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $48 for one 12 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Stay limber longer! As time goes on, we tend to become more inflexible, eventually leading to many restrictions in our daily lives. This class focuses on maintaining and improving flexibility while stretching through a series of yoga movements. 

Intermediate / Master Yoga
Time: Thursday - 5:30 p.m.

Cost: $48 for one 12 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Moving through sequences from basic to complex, this master class will maintain awareness and focus on the breath while working towards moving through advanced postures. This style of yoga builds heat, flexibility and strength, while maintaining focus on good alignment and sound structure.

Yoga-Lates
Time: Tuesday - 5:30 p.m.

Cost: $48 for one 12 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Yoga, combined with Pilates-based exercises, helps maintain balance while building muscular strength and endurance where and when you need it most. This class is dedicated to shaping and strengthening your body and core.

Relaxation Lunch Time Yoga
Time: Monday - 12:30 p.m. or Wednesday - 12:30 p.m.

Cost: $48 for one 12 week program, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Brighten your mid-day with serenity. Take a break from your computer and the office to recharge with 40 minutes of gentle yoga stretching.

Beginner / Pre Natal Yoga

Time: Wednesday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $48 for one 12 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Focusing on the balance between mind, body and breath, this class creates balance through exercise, posture, breathing, and relaxation. With slow and gentle vinyasa-style posing, your instructor can modify to suit all stages of fitness and pregnancy.  An ideal way to stay active for a healthy life and pregnancy!

Participants are encouraged to please bring a blanket and pillow.

Gentle Flow Yoga & Meditation at St. Thomas Community Centre
Time: Saturday - 10:00 a.m.

Cost: 48 for 1 (one) 12 week time slot.

This yoga and meditation class is intended for beginners or those looking for a gentle morning practice. The class explores fundamental yoga postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, and meditation in a non-competitive and supportive environment. In this class, you will move in and out of postures slowly, with strong focus on safe alignment and breath. Practicing yoga will allow you to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and relaxation. This 75 minute class promotes a heightened sense of awareness and wellbeing to begin your day.

Participants are encouraged to please bring a blanket and pillow. 

  

Dance Fitness

Zumba
Time: Tuesday- 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $60 for 1 (one) 12 week time slot or $6 per class (when space is available).

Zumba Fitness® is a unique dance fitness program that takes its inspiration from Latin and International rhythms. It is designed to be easy to follow for all fitness levels, and does not require any dance experience. Zumba Fitness® is a great way to exercise, increase your cardiovascular fitness, sculpt your body, burn calories and have fun.

POUND
Time: Monday or Wednesday – 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $60 for one 12 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

POUND is a mash-up of almost every exercise out there including, Pilates, isometrics, plyometrics, and even a bit of dance, all done to some amazing tunes. It’s fun, upbeat, and a great way to de-stress and will leave you feeling like a rock star.

Shine
Time:  Thursday 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $60 for one 12 week time slot or $6 per class (when space is available).

SHiNE™ is a new modern dance fitness class rooted in traditional jazz, hip-hop, and ballet. It takes foundational dance moves and creates routines that are easy enough for beginners yet challenging enough for the more seasoned dancer. The simplicity of the routines allows you to keep moving and think less. Because you keep moving, this class provides a great workout in a dance party atmosphere. This class is exclusive to the Town of Paradise.

Unlock your body-strength and flexibility. Essentrics is a dynamic workout that simultaneously lengthens and strengthens every muscle in the body, resulting in greater joint mobility and long, lean muscles. This full-body technique works through the muscle chains; liberating and empowering the muscles, relieving them from tension in the process.

50+ High / Low Aerobics

Cost: $112 for one 14 week time slot (two classes per week), or $5 per class (when space is available).

Start your week off right by activating your muscles through a series of yoga movements, each intended to improve your flexibility. This early morning class is guaranteed to relax and awaken you as you start your day.

Beginner Yoga 

Time: Monday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $56 for one 14 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

  • If you have not created an account, it is suggested that you do so before the morning of registration. To create an account, under Course Registration click the "Create Account" button on the homepage.
  • Please note the time on our computer's server may differ slightly from your computer time (e.g. time may say 8:58 a.m. and your computer may say 9:01 a.m.) so please be patient.

Special Pass Offers

  • Platinum Membership: The Platinum Membership is a 1-year pass that includes both a 1 year Gold Fitness Center Membership + 1 year unlimited priority registration for all  fitness classes. Platinum memberships are available online only through the Town’s Recreation Portal and will be available for purchase at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Limited quantities available. 

  • Unlimited Class Pass: The Unlimited Class pass gives access to 1-year unlimited priority registration for all fitness classes.
