This year marks the 21st Annual SunSplash Paddle in Paradise Festival! The festival runs from Wednesday, August 16 to Sunday, August 20. Take a look at all the great activities we have planned!

Kitchen Party Concert Notice: Due to inclement weather the SunSplash concert for tonight (Aug. 18) is moved to inside the Paradise Double Ice Complex, 1 Sarah Davis Way. Tickets available now at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. The concert starts at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, August 16

Opening Ceremony

Join the Town of Paradise for the official opening of the 2017 SunSplash Paddle in Paradise Summer Festival. This kickoff event includes fun at Paradise Park with water balloons, field activities, kite flying, a youth beach volleyball tournament, musical entertainment and so much more.
This opening event will also include greetings from Mayor Dan Bobbett and others. Join us to find out all of the other great activities that are planned for this year's SunSplash Paddle in Paradise.

 Family Goods and Satellite Bingo Night

Come kick off SunSplash with Bingo Night. Satellite Bingo is one of the most exciting -- and
revolutionary -- aspects of Charitable Gaming in the Atlantic Star Satellite Bingo Network. This event is hosted by the Kin Club of Paradise and takes place at the Paradise Double Ice Complex on Wednesday, August 16. Family Goods and Satellite Bingo Night will start at 7 p.m.

Karwood Retirement Retreat Visit

We're bringing SunSplash Paddle in Paradise to the residents of Karwood Retirement Retreat and Meadow Creek Retirement Home. Ray Lake will provide a cool take on Newfoundland, Irish and rock 'n' roll tunes. Family and friends of residents are welcome to join us and dance away the afternoon with their loved ones.

Meadow Creek Retirement Home Visit

We're bringing SunSplash Paddle in Paradise to the residents of Meadow Creek Retirement Home. Ray Lake will provide a cool take on Newfoundland, Irish and rock 'n' roll tunes. Family and friends of residents are welcome to join us and dance away the afternoon with their loved ones.

Outdoor Movie in Paradise Park

Bring the whole family to our Outdoor Movie in Paradise Park on Thursday, August 17 at 8:50 p.m. A large screen will be set up at the new bandstand in Paradise Park. Participants are encouraged to bring folding chairs. In case of inclement weather, the venue will move inside the Paradise Double Ice Complex. The entry fee is one non-perishable food item per person.

Friday, August 18

Seniors 50+ Bus Tour: Old St. John's and Cape Spear

Our 50+ residents are invited to join us on a Bus Tour of Old St. John's. The event begins with a hearty meal at the Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre prepared by Coffee Matters.

After lunch, the bus tour departs the Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre. Stops for the tour include Cape Spear National Historic, Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi Village, Government House, the Roman Catholic Cathedral, and more.

There are 50 spots available with registration taking place from August 16 to August 18 by calling 782-6290. Registration is first come first served and is open to those 50 years of age or older. Residents who make a reservation are asked to meet at the Paradise Double Ice Complex main lobby at 12:00 p.m.

Kitchen Party Concert (Moved to Paradise Double Ice Complex)

What better way to enjoy summer than with an outdoor concert featuring great local music. This year's SunSplash Outdoor Kitchen Party at Paradise Park is open to all and features performances by Calver Street, Rum Ragged, The Masterless Men and Shanneyganock.

There will be food concessions and a beer area (19+ only) at the event. The beer area is
managed by Kin Club of Paradise and all funds collected from sales will go back to community groups here in Paradise. Alcohol will not be served past 11:00 p.m.
Parking will be available at the Paradise Town Hall and the Paradise Double Ice Complex
parking lots.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.

Admission: $20/ticket for adults and free for children 12 and under.

Tickets go on sale August 7 at the Paradise Double Ice Complex (cash, debit and credit accepted). Tickets will also be available at the gate.

 

Saturday, August 19

CEW Wrestling at the Paradise Double Ice Complex

Don't miss the action of CEW's King of the Rock! Early Bird Tickets go on sale in early August and will be $15 at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.

  

Time: 6:00 p.m. doors open, show starts at 6:30 p.m.

Admission: Tickets $15 (Available at the Paradise Double Ice Complex) or $20 at the door

Paddle in Paradise Dragon Boat Festival at Octagon Pond

Join us for the annual Dragon Boat Festival on Octagon Pond. Up to 40 community and corporate teams will hit the pond on Saturday, August 19 for a great day of dragon boat racing. It's fun for the whole family - bouncy castles, games, food vendors, beer area for those 19+, and more. The fun starts at 9 a.m., so come down early to cheer for your favorite team.

 

Sunday, August 20

SunSplash Family Day in Paradise Park

Family Fun Day on Sunday, August 20 is for everyone! There is something for all ages this year including special performances, free bouncy castle rides, games, face painting, food concessions, and games of chance. This will be a ticketed event held from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Admission costs $5 for adults and is free for children 12 and under. The excitement continues from 7 - 9:45 p.m. as we close out SunSplash with a free night of food, fun, and fireworks.

Closing Entertainment and Fireworks

The closing event for 2017 SunSplash Paddle in Paradise is a free night of country music from Craig Young followed by the Wonderbolt Fire Circus. Don't miss out on a fun night of food, fun, and fireworks as SunSplash-Paddle in Paradise 2017 comes to an end.
