Get excited for our Annual SunSplash Paddle in Paradise Festival! This year Paradise’s week long summer festival kicks off on Sunday, August 12 and runs through to Sunday, August 19. Take a look at all the great activities we have planned to celebrate summer in Paradise.

Sunday, August 12

SunSplash Opening Ceremony

Join us for the official opening of the SunSplash Paddle in Paradise Summer Festival.  This kickoff event has fun for everyone at Paradise Park. Come enjoy the Splash Pad, field activities, our dog parks, games, bouncers, a free BBQ, prizes, and so much more.

The free BBQ with burgers, hot dogs begins at 12 noon with musical entertainment running from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Paradise Running Club Figure 8 Race

Runners of all abilities are invited to help get SunSplash moving with the Paradise Running Club’s annual Figure 8 Race. The Figure 8 Race is an NLAA sanctioned chip-timed race that is open to competitive and casual runners. Find out more and register at paradiserunningclub.com.

Adult Beach Dodgeball

Get your team of six together for an afternoon of dodgeball at the SunSplash Beach Dodgeball Event! This event is 18+ and costs $5. Email to sign up and be part of the action.

Monday, August 13

Karwood Retirement Retreat

We’re bringing SunSplash Paddle in Paradise to the residents of Karwood Retirement Retreat. Ray Lake will provide a cool take on Newfoundland, Irish and rock ‘n’ roll tunes while we join residents and their families for a great time.

Tuesday, August 14

Meadowcreek Retirement Home Visit

We’re bringing SunSplash Paddle in Paradise to the residents Meadowcreek Retirement Home. Ray Lake will provide a cool take on Newfoundland, Irish and rock ‘n’ roll tunes while we join residents and their families for a great time.

Outdoor Sunset Savasana Yoga
Join us for an outdoor yoga session. The suggested donation for this event is $20 however any
contribution is welcome. All proceeds go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. For more information or to register, please email.

Wednesday, August 15

Family Goods Bingo and Satellite Bingo

Family Goods Bingo is an all-ages family event hosted by the Kin Club of Paradise. There are lots of prizes to be won, generously donated by local businesses and associations. All proceeds are used to help families in need. Satellite Bingo is one of the most exciting aspects of Charitable Gaming in the Atlantic Star Satellite Bingo Network, offering prizes in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Thursday, August 16

Seniors 50+ Bus Tour

Our 50+ community are invited on a historic bus tour provided by McCarthy’s Party. This tour includes great food and an interesting trip to historic sites. Registration for the tour is open August 12 – 16. Admission is $12 and includes a meal and the tour. Interested residents are asked to call the Paradise Double Ice Complex at 709-782-6290 to secure on of the 50 spots.

Outdoor Movie at Paradise Park 

Children, families and friends are invited to our outdoor screening of the animated movie, “Despicable Me 3”  in Paradise Park. This event has free popcorn and fun for all ages! Participants are encouraged to bring folding chairs. Admission is one non-perishable food item per person.

Friday, August 17

Outdoor Kitchen Party 
Celebrate summer with an outdoor concert and kitchen party. Tickets to this 19+ cost $20 and are available at the Paradise Double Ice Complex beginning August 6. Parking is available at the Paradise Town Hall and the Paradise Double Ice Complex. Please note that alcohol will not be served past 11:00 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held indoors at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.

Saturday, August 18

Annual Paddle in Paradise Dragon Boat Festival

Join us for the annual Paddle in Paradise Dragon Boat Festival on Octagon Pond. Up to 40 community and corporate teams will hit the pond for a great day of dragon boat racing. It’s fun for the whole family. Come down early to cheer for your favorite team. Dragon boating is the fastest growing water sport in North America. These sleek 40-foot racing boats with dragon heads and tails hold 20 paddlers, with a steersperson in back and drummer in front. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest team, most-spirited team, and best fundraisers. 

The Avalon Dragons are solely funded by your donations. Funds raised help support the local team, help them expand their sport to survivors across the province, and fund programs for those undergoing breast cancer treatments. For more information about the Festival or how to join the Avalon Dragons, visit avalondragons.com and follow them on Facebook. Final times and a complete race schedule will also be posted on their website.

Event Parking*

Parking for this event will be at Town Hall (28 McNamara Drive) and the Paradise Double Ice Complex (1 Sarah Davis Way). A bus shuttle will run between these locations and the event on a load and go basis.

Spectators and participants are welcome to use this service to get to and from the pond between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. All teams are encouraged to car pool and drop off all necessary items at the event if possible. Please note that only accessible parking will be available pond side, along with space for the Avalon Dragons and special guests.

CEW Wrestling

Don’t miss the action. Cutting Edge Wrestling – wrestling that leaves a mark! Tickets for this event are available at the Paradise Double Ice Complex for $15.

Family Fun Day in Paradise Park 
Family Fun Day on Sunday, August 19 is for everyone! Daytime events from include performances, free bouncy castle rides, games, face painting, food concessions, prizes and more. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the gate and are cash only.

Twisted Fairytales

What do you get when you take some of your favorite tales, twist them all together and put them on the stage?  You get a fun-filled, often silly, and hilarious show that delights kids and adults alike. TaDa! Kids* entertains while sending an important message about the joys to be found inside a book.  Directed by Terri Andrews the show features Sharon King-Campbell, Kristen Murphy and members of the audience!

The SkyHawks: Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team

The SkyHawks have represented Canada and the Canadian Forces for over 45 years showcasing the professionalism, dedication and teamwork it takes to be a part of Canada’s military. They have performed to over 73 million spectators worldwide under their signature Canadian flag parachutes. Watch them build formations in the sky as they bring their parachutes in close proximity to each other to put on a spectacular show. Depending on weather, this show will take place on Saturday, August 18 or Sunday, August 19. This will be a free event for spectators and there will be a chance for all residents to meet with the Sky Hawks after the show. For the best place to watch the show, join us at Paradise Park.

The excitement at Paradise Park continues from 7 – 9:45 p.m. as we close out SunSplash with a free night of entertainment. The event includes food, fun, and fireworks!
