Recreation Workers (Temporary, Part-Time) Closing Date: August 19, 2018

The Town of Paradise is one of the fastest growing Municipalities in Newfoundland and Labrador.  Join this expanding team accountable for providing exceptional service to citizens in the day-to-day recreation support of the Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre and other facilities.


  • Successful completion of High School and a Diploma in Community Recreation Leadership program or equivalent.
  • Experience in working in community recreational facilities including, but not limited to, set up and removal of gymnasium and other equipment, fitness equipment instructions, administrative functions, such as receiving bookings, handling cash, and keeping accurate records.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with a variable work schedule.
  • Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license; a valid first aid certificate; and a satisfactory Police Records Check with a “Vulnerable Sector Query” from the RCMP or local police authority is required. 

This is a unionized position with a varied work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Receptionist (Part-Time Positions) Closing Date: August 10, 2018

Reporting to the Manager of Recreation and Leisure Services, this position is accountable for providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. This position directs calls/enquiries and provides administrative support for the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services. 


  • Graduation from High School, supplemented by successful completion of  coursework in office administration from a recognized post-secondary institution, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; 
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with the public with tact and diplomacy; 
  • Two (2) years experience in an office environment with similar responsibilities; 
  • Experience in working in a recreational setting would be an asset;
  • Valid First Aid Certificate;
  • Clear Certificate of Conduct;
  • Demonstrates a high level of organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other office applications.

This is a bargaining unit position.  The Town of Paradise is an Equal Opportunity Employer. 

Salary: $38,392.71 - $47,990.89
