Overview

The Town of Paradise offers a wide range of instructional programs and activities for children, youth, and adults throughout the Town during the summer months. If you are a motivated, enthusiastic, energetic individual who would like the challenge of working in a recreation environment, apply for one of the exciting and challenging Summer Student positions. Summer Programs

Summer Student positions support the following Town summer day camp, tri-sport, soccer, and baseball programs.

Summer Day Camp
The Town of Paradise offers three different day camps. Camp Caboodle is for children going to Grades 1 and 2; Camp Wahoo for children going to Grades 3 and 4; and Camp Excursion which is for children going to Grades 5, 6 and 7. Each camp provides weekly outings and two theme days each week. Staff have the opportunity to work with each age group throughout the summer.
Tri Sport
Open to youth ages 6 to 18 years, the Tri Sport program offers tennis, ball hockey and basketball at the Lombardy Place Playground. Lessons run from Monday to Thursday with Fridays reserved for make-up days, fun days, tournaments and skill development clinics.
 Paradise Youth Soccer Association (PYSA)
Focusing on developing the fundamentals of soccer, this program is open to youth ages 4 to18 years. It involves practices, games and tournaments during July and August. Games take place at the Dianne Whalen Soccer Complex off McNamara Drive.
Paradise Minor Baseball
Focusing on developing the fundamentals of baseball, this program is open to youth ages 5 to 16 years. It involves practices, games and tournaments during July and August. All games are played at the Peter Barry Duff Memorial Park located off Topsail Pond Road, and/or the Milton Road Ball Field.

 
Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a Summer Student Position, individuals must: 

  • Attended high school or a post-secondary institution prior to employment. Some positions will require that you are eligible to attend a post-secondary education institute in the semester following employment
  • All applicants must be fully available from June 25 to August 24, 2018 inclusive
  • Valid first aid certificate 
  • Clear Certificate of Conduct / Vulnerable Sector check required
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle (for applicable positions)
  • High Five ® certificate (if completed)
  • Mandatory training sessions are held beginning June 25. Staff must be fully available to attend.

Application Checklist

Only completed application packages will be considered. Please ensure you include a completed application form and three references (including contact phone numbers) as part of your application package. All applications must be received by Monday, April 9, 2018. Late applicants will only be considered if there are any unfilled positions. Applications can be submitted via:

Interviews

We thank all those interested in working with the Town of Paradise. Only those selected for interviews will be contacted. Mandatory training sessions are held prior to the start of employment for all Summer Student Positions.
