The Town of Paradise today unveiled plans for the newest recreation amenity – Tilting Place Lookout. With an investment of $200,000, the Town is creating a park that incorporates the unique features and landscape of the area.

Mayor Dan Bobbett and Councillors were joined by provincial and federal government representatives, area residents, and the park architects to unveil the concept and design for the area.

“This new park is the type of investment we identified in our new strategic plan, Your Paradise-Plan 2022 and we are excited to see an open space in a neighbourhood transform into a needed community park,” said Mayor Dan Bobbett.

Tilting Place Lookout is designed to utilize the natural grades and landscape of the area. It will have a number of features unique to a park in the Town including a natural play area, mini amphitheatre, a lookout feature, and a picnic area. It will have different types of vegetation and use boulders as retaining walls to blend in with the landscape. The park will tie in with existing green spaces in the area and will integrate into the trails from Adams Pond and Octagon Pond, thereby enhancing the connectivity throughout the Town.

“Council is pleased to be developing this open space in this neighbourhood. It will be for users of all ages, from our youngest residents to those young at heart,” said Mayor Bobbett. “The many features of Tilting Place Lookout will give residents and visitors the opportunity to take in a breathtaking view of Octagon Pond, enjoy an outdoor lunch in the picnic area or bring their children or grandchildren to a natural play area, and more. We can’t wait to see the finished park.”

The design and construction of the park will be completed by Mills and Wright Landscape Architecture and O’Neill’s Landscaping. The proponents were selected through an open call for bids process. Construction will start in the next couple weeks and the project is expected to be finished this fall.
