Media Release: Town Hosts 29th Annual Municipal Awards to Mark Volunteer Appreciation Week

The red carpet was rolled out at the Paradise Double Ice Complex tonight for the 29th Annual Town of Paradise Municipal Awards. Held to celebrate Volunteer Week, the Awards recognized and acknowledged the Town’s most outstanding residents, groups and businesses in the areas of athleticism, volunteerism, and businesses excellence.
“Our Municipal Awards are an annual reminder of the incredible number of talented and hardworking residents, groups and business owners that we have here in Paradise.” said Mayor Dan Bobbett. “The event provides us with an opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate and showcase all the remarkable work that our residents have accomplished throughout the year.” 
Nominations for the Municipal Awards are open to all residents and businesses. For 2019 nominations were received for all eleven of our awards, including Junior Male Athlete of the Year, Junior Female Athlete of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of Year, Coach of the Year, Youth of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Volunteer Group of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Business Excellence, and Property Pride.
“This year the theme for Volunteer Week is The Volunteer Factor helps Lift Communities, and we certainly see that here in Paradise. On behalf of Council, I extend sincere thanks to all our amazing volunteers for all your work and for continually lifting us up with your tireless contributions,” said Mayor Bobbett. 
The recipients of the 2019 Municipal Awards are (biographies and descriptions are attached):
  • Junior Male Athlete of the Year (18 years and under) – Carter Hemeon-Gill
  • Junior Female Athlete of the Year (18 years and under) – Katie Slaney
  • Male Athlete of the Year (19 years and older) – Chris Cox
  • Female Athlete of the Year (19 years and older) – Amanda Tippett
  • Coach of the Year – Jay Neville
  • Youth of the Year – Dylan Applin
  • Volunteer Group of the Year – Kin Club of Paradise
  • Volunteer of the Year – Tara Lynch
  • Citizen of the Year – Ches Pike
  • Property Pride – The Headquarters Salon
  • Business Excellence – Sobeys Paradise
