Winter Collection Reminders

| Print This Page |

snowgarbThe Town reminds residents of the following Automated Garbage Collection tips for winter. These guidelines help ensure safe and effective winter collections.

  • Wheeled carts should be placed near the end of your driveway; clear of streets and snow banks. Keep in mind that carts should be no closer than three feet from any obstacle (parked car, other cart, snow bank etc.).
  • Do not place carts in a location where snow plows may hit them. Wheeled carts must be kept from the roadway so as not to interfere with snow clearing operations.
  • On garbage day, carts must be placed for collection by 8 am. Please return carts back near your home as soon as possible after collections. To improve our night-time snow clearing operations, please avoid placing carts curbside the night before your collection.
  • Keep your cart clear of snow and ice and ensure the lid opens when the cart is tipped.
  • Please use extra caution when wheeling carts in snowy and icy conditions.

Cancellations: Bad weather may cause delays or cancellations. The Town cancels garbage collection on days when winter storms impede the ability of residents to place their carts for collection, or when carts may negatively affect snow clearing operations. Check the website and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates, and download the Pingstreet app to receive notices.
