Looking to get active? The Town of Paradise offers several fitness programs! From beginner to advanced classes, we have a variety of options to help you get healthy and active.

Summer Classes

Registration for our 2019 summer classes opens 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd and is available online only through the Town’s Recreation Portal. For more information, or if you have any questions on our classes, please email.

Hot day, cool night - summertime, what a delight! Classes will begin the week of July 8th, 2019.

General Classes

Summertime HIIT

Time: Thursday - 7 PM

Cost: $35 for one 7 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available)

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is an interval training technique that can be used for both cardiovascular and strength exercises. Put your best effort forward and prepare for quick bursts of exercise, followed by shorter bouts of recovery. This style of workout is sure to get your heart pumping and keep fat burning with high energy music and a variety of exercises!

Core Fitness
Time: Tuesday - 7:00 PM

Cost: $35 for one 7 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

A strong core is a vital ingredient to a strong body. This class will challenge you front to back while helping to improve your coordination and balance with the use of functional, balance, and body weight exercises. This is a full-body workout with an emphasis on core exercises.

POUND
Time: Wednesday - 7:00 PM

Cost: $35 for one 7 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available)

POUND is a mash-up of almost every exercise out there including, Pilates, isometrics, plyometrics, and even a bit of dance, all done to some amazing tunes. It’s fun, upbeat, and a great way to de-stress and will leave you feeling like a rock star!

 PIYO *NEW*

Time: Tuesday - 6:00 PM

Cost: $35 for one 7 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available)

PiYo is a total-body fitness system designed to whip you into shape from head to toe. It combines the practices of Pilates and yoga to help you build strength, lose weight, increase flexibility and have a great time doing it. PiYo was designed for people who want the mind-body benefits of a yoga or Pilates workout, but with a higher-energy, higher-sweat class.

While it does blend together these two mind-body exercises, it also adds in components of martial arts and dance for a more intense, kick-booty workout. PiYo also prides itself on using upbeat, mainstream music, rather than traditional zen yoga music, to keep students excited, interested and in the zone during the workout.

Participants are encouraged to please bring a yoga mat.

  

Yoga Fitness Classes

Hilltop Yoga

Time: Monday - 6 PM

Cost: $28 for one 7 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Stay limber longer! As time goes on, we tend to become more inflexible, eventually leading to many restrictions in our daily lives. This class focuses on maintaining and improving flexibility while stretching through a series of yoga movements.

Participants are encouraged to please bring a yoga mat.

Directions:

Class is located on top of Paradise Park at the Hilltop Gazebo. Parking lot available off of McNamara drive for participants not requiring a drop in class pass.

Please note this class is located outside and will take place weather permitting. In the instance of bad weather, class will take place inside the Paradise Double Ice Complex. 

Yoga In The Park

Time: Wednesday - 6 PM

Cost: $28 for one 7 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Stay limber longer! As time goes on, we tend to become more inflexible, eventually leading to many restrictions in our daily lives. This class focuses on maintaining and improving flexibility while stretching through a series of yoga movements. Focusing on the balance between mind, body and breath, this class creates balance through exercise, posture, breathing, and relaxation. With slow and gentle vinyasa-style posing, your instructor can modify to suit all stages of fitness. Instructor certified to accommodate pre-natal participants.

Participants are encouraged to please bring a yoga mat.

Directions:

Class is located in front of the Paradise Park band Stand. Parking available at the Paradise Double Ice complex and Paradise Park.  

Please note this class is located outside and will take place weather permitting. In the instance of bad weather, class will take place inside the Paradise Double Ice Complex.

 Yoga By The Pond

Time: Thursday - 5:30 PM

Cost: $28 for one 7 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

This class focuses on maintaining and improving flexibility while stretching through a series of yoga movements. Class is located down by the boarded Octagon Pond Viewing area. To access this viewing area please walk down the Octagan Pond Trail from the Newfoundland T’Railway located off of Sarah Davis Way/ Paradise Park.

 Relaxation Lunch Time Yoga

Time: Monday - 12:30 PM or Wednesday - 12:30 PM

Cost: $28 for one 7 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Brighten your mid-day with serenity. Take a break from your computer and the office to recharge with 40 minutes of gentle yoga stretching

Participants are encouraged to please bring a yoga mat.

 

Drop-In Class Pass

Drop-in class passes will be sold at the front desk reception of the Paradise Double Ice Complex on a first come, first serve basis, when space is available.

Please note the following spring fitness class cancellations. Make up classes will be scheduled in at the end of the spring session.

  •  Visit our  Recreation Portal. If you already have an account, proceed to the "Logon to Account" button.

  • If you have not created an account, it is suggested that you do so before the morning of registration. To create an account, under Course Registration click the "Create Account" button on the homepage.

  • Please note the time on our computer's server may differ slightly from your computer time (e.g. time may say 8:58 a.m. and your computer may say 9:01 a.m.) so please be patient.

Special Pass Offers

  • Platinum Membership: The Platinum Membership is a 1-year pass that includes both a 1 year Gold Fitness Center Membership + 1 year unlimited priority registration for all  fitness classes. Platinum memberships are available online only through the Town’s Recreation Portal and will be available for purchase at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Limited quantities available. 

  • Unlimited Class Pass: The Unlimited Class pass gives access to 1-year unlimited priority registration for all fitness classes. Unlimited Class Passes are available online only through the Town’s Recreation Portal and will be available for purchase at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Limited quantities available.
