Youth Activities

The Town of Paradise and Write NL have joined forces to offer Youth Creative Fiction, a writing program for youth focused in the areas of: Introduction to Creative Writing, Descriptive Writing, and Writing for an Audience.

When: Mondays from January 13 to March 2

7 to 8 p.m. Ages 7-11

8 to 9 p.m. Ages 12-15

Where: Body Quest Wellness Room, Paradise Double Ice Complex

Cost: $30 per person

Registration: January 6, 2020 at 12 p.m. through the Town's Recreation Portal

If you're a youth between the ages 7-9 years and have an interest in dancing, join us for Youth Dance (Juniors)! This program will help you build your dance skills while you have fun. Session One is from January 12 to March 1; Session Two is from March 8 toApril 26. Registration is online only and remains open until full. Each Session costs $25 per person.

Time: Sunday, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Location: Fitness Studio, Paradise Double Ice Complex

If you’re a youth between the ages of 10 and 13 years, join us for Youth Dance. This program will help you build your dance skills while you have fun. Session One is from January 12 to March 1; Session Two is from March 8 to April 26. Registration is online only and remains open until full. Each Session costs $25 per person.

Location: Fitness Studio, Paradise Double Ice Complex

If you are between the ages of 7-13 yeas and are interested in learning to prepare and cook snacks, meals and desserts, join us for Youth in the Kitchen. This program runs from January 15 to March 3. The program registration fee is $25. Limited spaces are available.

Time: Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Location: Paradise Double Ice Complex

Come and join artist Jill Moores as she teaches the basics of watercolour with students aged 9-14 years old every Wednesday from April 1 to April 22. Students will use quality materials to learn how to paint in watercolour. They will explore the properties of the paint to create artwork which will include landscapes and abstracts. Cost is $30 per person.

Time: Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Location: Paradise Double Ice Complex

The Town of Paradise and Write NL have joined forces with the support of Love of Learning to offer Youth Professional Writing. This program will teach professional writing, writing for resumes/cover letters, and general literary skills for older youth and young adults. This program is also focused on teaching academic and professional writing as well as an introduction to journalism.

When: Thursdays from January 16 to March 5

7 to 9 p.m. Ages 15-30

Where: Body Quest Wellness Room, Paradise Double Ice Complex

Cost: $30 per person

Registration: January 6, 2020 at 12 p.m. through the Town's Recreation Portal

Are you interested in learning essential skills such as street safety, anti-bullying, and practical self-defense? Taught by a certified Kenpo Black Belt with experience in Brazilian jujitsu, kickboxing and Taekwondo, this program aims to promote confidence, improve fitness and encourage strength using elementary martial arts skills and practical self-defense techniques. With a curriculum focused on a fun, hands-on approach to martial arts, you will have the opportunity to try these skills in a safe environment, and prove just how much you can do! Cost is $25 per person. Program runs January 14 to February 18.

Time: Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Location: Paradise Double Ice Complex

Are you interested in learning essential skills such as street safety, anti-bullying, and practical self-defense? What about the basics of kickboxing and sparing? Taught by a certified Kenpo Black Belt with experience in Brazilian jujitsu, kickboxing and Taekwondo, this program aims to promote confidence, improve fitness and offer an introduction to the sport of kickboxing. Geared towards an intermediate age group, prepare to challenge yourself with fun exciting techniques as well as important self-defense skills just how much you can do! Cost is $25 per person. Program runs January 14 to February 18.

Time: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. 

Location: Paradise Double Ice Complex

Bring your Friends and come join us for a night full of Fortnite, Apex Legends and NHL. Along with the other great games in the Youth Centre! The cost is $2 drop in fee or free for all youth members. Snacks will be provided. Please bring your own wireless devise.

Time: Last Friday of the Month, 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

If you're between the ages of 7-18 years and are looking to get some exercise, stop in at the Paradise Double Ice Complex for Open Gym.

Time: Monday to Thursday, 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

The Ches Penney Youth Centre is a great place for youth the between of ages 7 and 18 years to hang out with friends, climb the indoor rock wall, or play pool, video games and more. Come check out the newly renovated Youth Centre and the additions to the video games and interactive gaming area. 

Did you know that we have a 24 foot indoor rock climbing wall? Indoor rock climbing is a great way to challenge yourself in a safe and controlled environment. The climbing wall is open seven days a week to youth between the ages of 7 and 18 years.

The Sk8 Park is open year round, seven days a week, so there's no reason to stop doing what you love! Join us any day and stay warm while you skateboard or ride your scooter.
