The Town of Paradise offers a variety of youth programs and activities. 

Registration for individual Youth Programs is available online only through the Town's Recreation Portal. Registration remains open until programs are full. Summer 2019 - Programs and Activities

NEW! Sprockids Biking

Sprockids Biking is an 8 week program that teaches mountain bike riding skills. The program uses a multi-tier approach designed to provide participants with the opportunity to experience success regardless of their riding skill level. The art of riding is broken down into 55 skills distributed through four graduated levels, with each new skill building on a previous skill.

Through the sport of cycling, youth develop a strong sense of self-esteem by discovering and building on potential within themselves.

The program will take place on Wednesday afternoons at Paradise Park and surrounding trails.

Registration for this program opens June 26th at 12pm, and will take place online only through the Town’s Recreation Portal

Program Times:

  • Ages 6-9 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM
  • Ages 10-12 2:00 PM -3:00 PM

Cost: $25/participant

Each Youth will receive a certificate and a water bottle.

NEW! Summer Ball Hockey

Join us for our new outdoor Youth Ball Hockey Program this summer! This program has three age groups and runs from July 8th to August 20th at the Lombardy Place Multi-Sport Courts in Elizabeth Park.

Registration for this program opens June 26th at 12pm, and will take place online only through the Town’s Recreation Portal.

Program Schedule:

Monday and Tuesday evenings with Wednesday evenings as the rain date.

Program Times (by age group):

  • Ages 6-8: 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.     
  • Ages 9-10: 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  
  • Ages 11-13: 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Cost: $30/player (limted to 20 players per age group)

Please note that each player will be required to wear a CSA approved helmet with a full cage and gloves. 

Counsellors in Training (CIT)

The Counsellors in Training (CIT) program is designed to teach leadership skills that will allow participants to work effectively as counsellors at Paradise summer camps as well as in future employment situations. All participants must be attending grades 10 or 11 in September 2019.

Participants MUST spend two weeks as a Counselor in Training (CIT) and attend a orientation on the morning of their first day.

After registering, all participants are advised to read through the provided documentation and bring the completed forms (signed by a parent/guardian) to orientation on their first day. Alternatively, completed forms may be scanned in advance and sent to bmurray@paradise.ca

Parent & Tot Fun in the Sun

Our Parent & Tot Program is a physical activity program for toddlers (ages 0-5) and their parent(s) or guardian(s). These games and activities provide young children with the opportunity to interact with other children, all while burning energy in a safe environment. Our recreation staff will be actively involved with the participants in each session, though children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The program takes place outdoors at the Double Ice Complex playground and green space. Rainy day location will be Resource Room B, Paradise Double Ice Complex.

Runs from July 15 - August 30

Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Open Gym

If you’re looking to get some exercise, stop in at the Paradise Double Ice Complex for open gym on Monday- Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

$2 drop-in fee or youth membership required

Drop-in Basketball

If you're between the ages of 14 and 18, join us for an exciting game of basketball every Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.

Tri-Sport (NEW SESSIONS ADDED)

Each summer the Lombardy Place Playground becomes home to our popular three sport program. Sports include ball hockey, basketball, and tennis and children are able to register for one, two, or all three sports.

Lessons run from Monday to Thursday, with Friday being reserved as fun days, tournaments, skill development clinics, or make-up days (in the event of weather-related cancellations). The program runs July 2 to August 23.

Costs are calculated by the number of sports participated in. Registration takes place on Monday, May 27 and opens at 12:00 p.m. and will be available online only on the Town Recreation Portal. Online registration will remain open until all spaces are filled. Please note that only 16 children are taken per time slot.

Ches Penney Youth Centre

The Ches Penney Youth Centre is a great place for youth the between of ages 7 and 18 to hang out with friends, climb the indoor rock wall, or play pool, video games and more. Come check out the newly renovated Youth Centre and the additions to the video games and interactive gaming area.

Climbing Wall

Did you know that we have a 24 foot indoor rock climbing wall? Indoor rock climbing is a great way to challenge yourself in a safe and controlled environment. The climbing wall is open seven days a week to youth between the ages of 7 and 18.

Sk8 Park

The Sk8 Park is open year round, seven days a week, so there's no reason to stop doing what you love! Join us any day and stay warm while you skateboard or ride your scooter.

Field Trips and Special Events

If you're between the ages of 7 and 15, join in the fun at our Youth Field Trips and Special Events! Already this year we have held some great events and gone on several fun field trips.

Membership Fees and Rates

The Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre offers a variety of low cost programs and special events for youth between the ages of 7 and 18. Access to the Sk8 Park/Ches Penney Youth Centre is $15 a month, or $50 a year.

Interested in having access to all youth programs and events taking place this season? Purchase an All Access Pass for $40. You will get your own personal membership card to show upon each visit. Those without a pass may pay a drop-in fee of $5 for each event or activity.
