Summer Student Employment

Overview

The Town of Paradise is planning to offer summer day camps and other programming that will be permitted under COVID-19 Alert Level 3. To be prepared to operate these programs, the Town is recruiting for Summer Student positions. The complete list of potential positions along with details on each position can be found on the Summer Student positions page. The exact type and number of positions to be filled is to be determined based on public health guidelines. 

Applications must be received by Friday, June 5, 2020

Interested individuals may apply for up to two positions only.

Summer Student Employment is conditional based on the public health guidelines and the Alert Levels for COVID-19.

 

Summer Programs

Summer Student positions support may support the following Town summer day camp, tri-sport, soccer, and baseball programs. These programs will be offered if permitted with COVID-19 Alert Levels and within public health guidelines.  

Summer Day Camp

The Town of Paradise is preparing to offer a limited Summer Day Camp as permitted under COVID-19 Alert Level 3 as designated by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The size and format of the Camp is to be determined based on public health guidelines. 

Tri Sport

Open to youth ages 6 to 18 years, the Tri Sport program offers tennis, ball hockey and basketball at the Lombardy Place Playground. Lessons run from Monday to Thursday with Fridays reserved for make-up days, fun days, and skill development clinics.

 Paradise Soccer Club

Focusing on developing the fundamentals of soccer, this program is open to youth ages four to 18 years. The scope of programming offered will be determined based on public health guidelines. 

Paradise Minor Baseball
Focusing on developing the fundamentals of baseball, this program is open to youth ages 5 to 16 years. The scope of programming offered will be determined based on public health guidelines.

 
Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a Summer Student Position, individuals must meet the following criteria: 

  • Some positions will require that you are eligible to attend a post-secondary education institute in the semester following employment.
  • All applicants must be fully available from July 1 to August 23, 2020 inclusive; exact dates of summer employment are to be determined based on public health guidelines for COVID-19
  • Valid First Aid Certificate 
  • Valid Certificate of Conduct / Vulnerable Sector check required
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle (for applicable positions)
  • Mandatory training sessions are held as part of summer student employment and individuals must be fully available to attend.

Please ensure you include a completed application form and three references (including contact phone numbers) as part of your application package. All applications must be received by Friday, June 5, 2020.

Interviews

We thank all those interested in working with the Town of Paradise,however only those selected for interviews will be contacted. Mandatory training sessions are held prior to the start of employment for all Summer Student Positions.
