The nomination process for the 2019 Town of Paradise By-election ran from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11. A total of four candidates for councillor were nominated. The election is on May 9.

Candidate information below is provided by candidates. Please note that updates to this page are made as information is received by the Town of Paradise.

Bennett, Coreen

In 2006, my husband Darrell and I chose Paradise as our home to raise our 2 children, D’Arcy and Erica. It was at that time we focused on building a network of friends and colleagues to call family. Through various town activities, committees, sports and community groups we did that. I have always offered my time and talents to support many organizations; so much so I was awarded Citizen of the Year Municipal Award in 2011. Truly humbling!

As an HR Professional for 25 years in various sectors including public and private, I can use my business experience in planning, stakeholder and government relations to help address any concerns you may have. My concerns for community safety and security, leisure lifestyle, seniors’ comfort and personal asset protection are why I am running. My passion for a unified community and prosperity in Paradise drives me to represent at the council table.

Knee, Curtis

My name is Curtis Knee and I’m a 20 year old Business and Political Science student attending Memorial University. I have had the pleasure of serving on the board of directors for several non-profit and charitable organizations which have focused on a wide array of issues that stemmed from youth engagement to heritage preservation. Through these experiences, I’ve gained a wide array of skills that are transferable to representing you at the Council table.

My platform is based around three different ideas. The Town acting as a partner with developers is key for change occurring in both an ethical and responsible way. Looking at considering different ways that we perform road maintenance to ensure that safety is a number one priority. Finally, looking at how we can incorporate our seniors into our recreational programming to ensure easier engagement in our Town.
