Winter weather can bring storms and severe conditions. Be prepared and know what to do before, during and after a storm.

Be Prepared

  • Stay aware of winter weather, follow updates and watch for weather warnings
  • Be ready in case the power goes out. Have flashlights on hand. Also have battery-powered lighting and fresh batteries. It is recommended to never use candles.
  • Generators should be used outdoors. Keep them away from windows and doors. Do not run a generator inside your garage, even if the door is open.
  • Be ready if the heat stops working. Use extra layers of clothes and blankets to stay warm. If you use an emergency heat source, keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet away.
  • Turn portable heaters off when you leave the room. Turn them off when you go to bed.

 Personal Emergency Preparedness

Public Safety Canada provides useful resources about preparing a emergency preparedness plan for you and your family. If an emergency happens in your community, it may take emergency workers some time to reach you and Public Safety Canada advises that you should be prepared to take care of yourself and your family for a minimum of 72 hours.

Town of Paradise Snow Clearing Operations

The Town of Paradise works hard to keep streets clear and safe from snow and ice. Snow clearing operations begin when five centimeters of snow has accumulated on the road surface. Road crews work as efficiently as they safely can under a variety of weather conditions to clear seven separate routes within the Town. To ensure safe and reliable access, crews prioritize the assistance of emergency vehicles when required.

Snow clearing in Paradise is done on a priority basis. Please visit the Town's Snow Clearing Road Priority page for an overview of priority levels. Town Snow Clearing Regulations cover a variety of topics pertaining to Snow Clearing including the Town's Winter Parking Ban and Snow Clearing Damage Policy.
