As students, teachers and administrators bid farewell to summer and get ready for a new school year, the Town of Paradise is ready to support back-to school safety. Staff have been busy ensuring traffic calming is in place, speed radar signs are operational, and line painting is up to date in all the school zones in Town. In addition, again this year, crossing guards are confirmed for the four elementary schools in Paradise.
“School safety is something that all of us must keep top of mind, this week and throughout the upcoming school year,” said Mayor Dan Bobbett. “As drivers, we must use extra caution in school zones and watch for students. Let’s all reduce our speeds, be extra vigilant, and do our part to ensure our students have a safe and enjoyable year.”
For the first week of school, the Town will have traffic control for the morning and afternoon drop-off times. Throughout the school year, Municipal Enforcement Officers will actively patrol school zones to ensure everyone is following proper procedures such as pedestrian safety, parking, and speed limits. The Town is also liaising with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary for patrols and to report incidents of speeding and dangerous driving.
“As a new year of learning, friendship, and memories begins, we wish all students, teachers, administrators, and staff in our Paradise schools, a fun, productive and safe year ahead,” said Mayor Bobbett.
