The Town of Paradise today officially opened Paradise Park, the Town’s latest additions to its recreation offerings. Mayor Dan Bobbett and council were joined by MP Ken McDonald for the Government of Canada and MHA Bernard Davis, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health and Community Services on behalf of Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs for the ribbon cutting ceremony and tour of the park, followed by a family fun day.
“With the opening of Paradise Park, Sarah Davis Way has truly become the heart of recreational activities for the Town of Paradise,” said Mayor Dan Bobbett. “The new amenities paired with the recently built Paradise Double Ice Complex allow us to expand our recreation offerings within the Town, further encouraging physical activity and increasing community involvement.”
Paradise Park is designed to enhance the recreational offerings within the Town for the enjoyment of all residents and visitors of Paradise. The Park features amenities such as; the Town’s first accessible playground, a splash pad, two beach volleyball courts, two dog parks, a sliding hill, a concession stand, and change rooms.
“I congratulate the Town on the official opening of Paradise Park. This is a great addition to a growing town and I’m confident all residents will enjoy the facilities. I look forward to continue working with Paradise on future developments,” said Ken McDonald, MP (Avalon).
The development of Paradise Park was supported by the federal and provincial governments. With the completion of most amenities finalized this July, Paradise Park has proven to be a major attraction for the Town, drawing in hundreds of local and non-local visitors each day.
“Paradise Park represents the kind of municipal infrastructure which benefits communities and residents of all ages. I congratulate the Town of Paradise on the official opening of this facility, which will no doubt help to promote healthy, active lifestyles in the town for many years to come,” said the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs
Paradise Park is open seven days a week. For hours of operation and further information about the amenities located at the park, visit www.paradise.ca/Paradise Park.
