Construction of the new, single-lane roundabout at the intersection of McNamara Drive and Dianne Whalen Drive is expected to start the week of July 12, 2021. The work is a project of the Provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure and is part of the new Intermediate School.
While this work is ongoing, the Town is installing sidewalks on both sides of McNamara Drive, from Sarah Davis Way to Dianne Whalen Drive, to connect with crossings in the new roundabout. The Town is also installing a privacy fence on Dianne Whalen Drive to provide a barrier between the road and the residential neighborhood.
Crews will be on site Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and starting July 24, every second Saturday. The work is expected to be completed by September.
To facilitate access to the Dianne Whalen Memorial Soccer Complex during the construction, the Town has arranged for a temporary access route through the Carpenters Millwright College property. To access the soccer complex, all users must enter through the parking lot of the Carpenters Millwright College and exit using Dianne Whalen Drive. The attached map shows the route for arriving and leaving the area.
While crews will work to minimize traffic interruptions, due to the nature of the road project, traffic delays are expected. All drivers are asked to use caution in the area and to follow signage and traffic control procedures. The Town apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this work.
