With a hurricane watch issued for the Avalon Peninsula, the Town of Paradise is advising all residents and businesses to prepare for the severe weather. Hurricane Larry is expected to hit the region overnight on Friday, September 10, bringing potential for high winds and heavy rainfall.
Residents are reminded to secure any outside items such as patio furniture, BBQs, children’s play structures, and other such items. It is also recommended to have a basic home emergency kit and supplies, including food, water, prescriptions, flashlights, portable radio, and extra batteries, ready and the supply should be prepared to last at least 72 hours.
In preparation of the storm, Town crews are out inspecting roads, facilities, and infrastructure and securing and / or removing any items as necessary. The Town has also contacted the candidates for the 2021 Municipal Election to advise that all election signage should be secured and / or removed.
Town officials are actively monitoring the forecast and weather conditions, and crews will be available throughout the weekend to respond as required.
