With the forecast of heavy rains and high winds over the next 24 to 48 hours, residents are reminded to check around their properties and where possible clear areas that may cause water to pool.
With the snow coverage and the frozen ground, less water can be absorbed and greater amounts of water may pool on properties. In addition, snow and ice may impede drainage paths, and residents are advised to check around their properties and where possible, clear drainage paths to allow for water to run off.
Residents are also reminded to secure any items that may blow around on their properties with the high winds.
The Town will do its best to keep municipal drains clear, but residents can help prevent flooding by also clearing snow and ice from drains and ensuring there is a drainage path to the drain.
