AED - Automated External Defibrillator

Automated External Defibrillator, AED, is a small portable device used to identify cardiac (heart) rhythms and deliver a shock to correct abnormal activity in the heart.

AEDs analyze the heart rhythm and delivers an electrical shock to victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest in order to restore the heart to normal rhythm. This user-friendly AED provides easy to follow visual and audio prompts to guide the rescuer from pad application to shock delivery, if required. 

All AEDs are equipped to detect heart rhythms. When attached to an individual, the AED operator will only be advised to deliver a shock if the heart is in a rhythm which can be corrected by defibrillation. If a shockable rhythm is not detected, no shock can be given and the provider will be instructed to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until emergency medical services arrive.

Town of Paradise facilities are equipped with AEDs and staff are trained in first-aid, including proper usage of AEDs. Locations include:
