Bulk garbage and metal collection are by appointment only and based on available dates. To schedule an appointment, please call 709-782-3577. Appointments are needed for both types of pick-ups and therefore, metal should not be placed with bulk garbage.
Households are permitted one free bulk and metal collection per year. An additional collection of each is also available at a cost of $25 (HST included) per collection. All additional collections will be scheduled into the regular collection calendar.

Household hazardous waste
Household hazardous waste is collected at the HHW facility located in the Residential Drop-off Facility at Robin Hood Bay. It is open two days a week, year-round, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Paint recycling program
Residents can now recycle left over paint. Just take it to a Product Care collection site for recycling and do your part for the environment. To find a paint collection site near you, visit: https://www.productcare.org/products/paint/newfoundland/ or call 1-888-772-9772.
Used tire program
Consumers can leave their used tires, at no cost, with a tire retailer upon the purchase of new tires. However, they can also be returned to a tire retailer at a later date in manageable quantities (four to five tires) during the retailer's normal business hours.
Tires that are accepted include passenger tires, light truck tires, commercial truck tires, motorcycle tires. The used tires must be in whole form, free of mud and debris and the rims must be removed prior to returning to a tire retailer.

Electronic products recycling program
Residents and businesses can recycle their old electronics and help divert potentially hazardous materials from the landfill by dropping off their unwanted electronics to a drop-off centre located throughout the province.
