The Town of Paradise completes a number of construction and road work projects throughout the year. Please see below for new and ongoing projects, and be sure to check back often for updates.
Watermain Break on Topsail Road - May 19, 2022 |
7:45 a.m.: The there is a water main break in the vicinity of 1354 Topsail Road (near the Outer Ring Road overpass) which is affecting the westbound lane and causing traffic slowdowns. Crews are on site assessing the situation and the Town will provide an update later this morning. Drivers are asked to use an alternate route if possible; when in the area drivers are asked to reduce speeds and follow all traffic control. |
Traffic Interruptions at St. Thomas Line and Moonlight Drive - May 16, 2022 |
There is a potential for traffic interruptions at the intersection of St. Thomas Line and Moonlight Drive for the week of May 16. At times, traffic in the area may be limited to one lane. The work is part of the water and sewer installation project for Moonlight Drive. Crews will work to minimize traffic interruptions, but intermittent delays can be expected. Light Pole Installation at Milton Road Ballfield - May 3, 2022 |
New light poles are being installed at Milton Road Ballfield. The project is scheduled to start on May 3, 2022 and take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting. Residents are asked to avoid the construction area and to follow all posted signage. The Town apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this work. |
Construction of New Trail at Copper Canyon Close - May 2, 2022 |
A new pedestrian trail is being constructed from Copper Canyon Close to St. Thomas Line to provide residents access between the roadways. The 70 m long trail will be the newest addition to the Town’s trail system. The project involves installing a granular walking surface, swing gates and armour stone at either end, and a retaining wall and fence constructed along the west boundary of the trail. Work on the trail is expected to begin the week of May 2 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month. The construction of the trail will involve heavy equipment in the area and for the safety of all residents, this area will be closed to the public during the work. The trail will open once construction is complete. Residents are asked to avoid the construction area and to follow all posted signage. Annual Line Painting Starting for 2022 Season - April 22, 2022 |
The 2022 annual line painting and maintenance program is scheduled to start this weekend (April 23). The first part of the work involves placing markings along Topsail Road with full line painting in the area starting next weekend, weather permitting. Over the coming months, the annual line painting work will include traffic lines, edge lines, crosswalks, stop bars, margins, and arrows on roads throughout Town. Drivers are asked to follow all posted signage and to use caution when in the area and around work crews. |
Repair Work on Octagon Pond Tail - April 11, 2022 |
A section of the Octagon Pond Trail will be closed on Monday, April 11 to facilitate repair work. The section of trail, on the eastern side of the pond (between the main parking area and cadet training area) will be closed for one day as a culvert is installed. Residents are asked to avoid the area and to follow all posted signage. The trail is expected to be open by the end of the day. The Town apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this work. |
Work Resumes on Topsail Round Roundabout Centre Island - April 11, 2022 |
Work is scheduled to resume on the centre island of the Topsail Road – McNamara Drive roundabout on April 11. Crews will be onsite to prepare the centre island for landscaping and the work is expected to take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting. The landscaping portion of the project will be completed this summer, when weather permits and it is suitable for planting trees and greenery. Minimal traffic interruptions are anticipated with this work and all drivers are asked to use caution in the area and to follow signage and traffic control procedures. Water and Sewer Work on Moonlight Drive - March 21, 2022 |
Water and sewer installation is scheduled to begin on Moonlight Drive on March 21, 2022. The project is expected to take 14 weeks to complete with work on-going Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5p.m. Residents are asked to respect all posted signed and avoid the construction area. |
Emergency Force Main Repairs: Topsail Road West - March 11, 2022 |
UPDATE: March 11 7:30 p.m. - The repairs are complete and the road is open in both direction to traffic. **********
Emergency force main repairs are taking place on the west end of Topsail Road, between Spracklin Boulevard and Sedgewick Street. Crews are on site, including heavy equipment and pumper trucks. Traffic control is in place and while crews will work to minimize traffic interruptions, delays can be expected. Drivers are asked to reduce speeds in the area and follow all traffic control and signage. The work is expected to continue throughout the afternoon and there is no impact to services at this time. The Town apologizes for the inconvenience and an update will be provided later this evening.

Repairs to Traffic Lights at Carlisle Drive and Topsail Road - February 26, 2022 |
Repair work on the traffic lights at the intersection of Carlisle Drive and Topsail Road is scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2022. The work will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the traffic lights will be flashing red in all directions while the repair work is completed. All drivers are reminded to treat the intersection as a 4-way stop during this time. During this work, minimal traffic interruptions are expected but there may be traffic slowdowns while the intersection is under a 4-way stop. All drivers are asked to use caution in the area and to follow signage and traffic control procedures. The Town apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this work. |
Road Closure for section of St. Thomas Line - February 19, 2022 |
UPDATE: Repairs are complete and St. Thomas Line is now open to traffic. ******* Effective immediately this evening (6:00 p.m.), Saturday, February 19, St. Thomas Line is closed between Topsail Road and Carlingford Street; all traffic is diverted through Carlingford Street. The road closure is needed to accommodate due to a force main break in the area. Pumper trucks will also be on site. Emergency repair work will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 20. At this time, there is no direct impact on homes in the area. The work is expected to be completed by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and a further update will be provided. The Town apologizes for the inconvenience. |
Installation of Roundabout Feature - December 6, 2021 |
Construction of the feature for the middle of the Topsail Road – McNamara Drive roundabout is scheduled to begin December 6. The feature is designed to be a tribute to a former landmark of the Town’s history, Octagon Castle, a restaurant, hotel, and gallery built on the shores of Octagon Pond in the late 1800s and was destroyed by fire in 1915. The project is expected to take a couple of weeks to complete and there are minimal traffic interruptions anticipated with work.
