The Town of Paradise advises that the provincial government has lifted the Regional State of Emergency and as a result the Evacuation Preparedness Alert for the section of Paradise (the south side of Topsail Road from the Outer Ring Road exit to CBS boundary) has ended effective immediately, today, Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Residents should continue to monitor the Government of NL and the Town of Paradise websites for updates.

The following will be the Town’s only update on its fire response for Saturday, August 16, unless there is a significant change in the status of the Paddy’s Pond Fire. The Town’s next update will be issued by 12 noon on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Wildfire Afternoon Update for Friday, August 15, 2025 (2:30 PM)

The Evacuation Order for the Three Island Pond Area was lifted effective 12:15 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025. Residents who were evacuated from the following streets can return to their homes: Three Island Pond Road to the intersection of Buckingham Drive, Ellington Close, Angels Road, Hansen Place, Vanellen Place, Dawes Road, Balsamwood Road, Stokes Road and Shalloway Place.

The Town of Paradise advises that the Evacuation Order for the Three Island Pond Area is lifted effective immediately on Friday, August 15, 2025. Residents who were evacuated from the following streets can return to their homes: Three Island Pond Road to the intersection of Buckingham Drive, Ellington Close, Angels Road, Hansen Place, Vanellen Place, Dawes Road, Balsamwood Road, Stokes Road and Shalloway Place.

For the Paddy’s Pond Fire, the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture advises that water bombers and a bird dog aircraft were focused on the northern edge of the fire throughout Thursday, and that construction on a fire guard is complete. Today (August 15) bucketing will continue along with other suppression work including help from the Canadian Armed Forces.

The Town continues to support the efforts to deal with the Paddy’s Pond Wildfire and we thank all first responders for their unwavering dedication and commitment in fighting the wildfires.

The Paddy’s Pond fire is still a very active fire. The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture advised that weather conditions are favourable today (August 14) and that water bombers, a bird dog aircraft, bucketing helicopters, Coast Guard helicopters, and ground crews are working on the fire.
