Memberships

Having a Youth Membership allows you to drop into our non-registration programs without needing to pay drop-in fee! Simply verify your membership at our reception desk and they will pass you a bracelet that will let you into the program you are attending!

Youth Membership Cost: $15.00 Monthly or $50.00 Annually

We are proud to offer drop-in programs for youth 17 and below to avail of! When attending one of the following programs, you will need to acquire a drop-in bracelet from our reception desk to enter the program!

Please be advised that our Skate Park and Rock Wall require signed waivers from caretakers.

The current programs offered are as follows:

🏀 Open Gym

The Town of Paradise Hedley Blundon Gymnasium is open to youth 17 and under to participate in physical activity and sport. Activities will vary per session and equipment availability may change. From pickleball to basketball, activities change day to day, and participants are welcome to bring their own equipment.

Schedule:

Monday and Wednesday

6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Program Duration: July 6 to August 19

🥏 Youth Ultimate Frisbee Program (Ages 10-13)

Interested in learning more or trying Ultimate Frisbee? Join us for our new youth (aged 10-13) summer program on our indoor turf! Whether you're new to the sport or already have some experience, it's the perfect opportunity to make new friends and have some fun.

Please note that indoor shoes are required.

Program Duration: July 19 - August 23 (6 weeks)
Time: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Location: Paradise Double Ice Complex (Score Arena, Indoor Turf)
Admission: $25 per person

🥏 Ultimate Frisbee - Youth Try It Clinic - CANCELLED

The Town of Paradise is excited to partner with Ultimate NL to offer a free Ultimate Frisbee Try-It Clinic!

If you're curious about the sport, this is the perfect opportunity to see if it's for you! Join us for a fun, welcoming session where participants will learn the basics of Ultimate Frisbee, practice key skills, and experience the game in action.

Come out, get active, and discover why Ultimate Frisbee is one of the fastest-growing sports!

🏐 Youth Beach Volleyball - Beginner Program

The Town of Paradise is pleased to partner with the Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association (NLVA) to offer an introductory program for beach volleyball.

Over the course of 6 weeks, participants will learn the fundamentals of beach volleyball in a fun, supportive, and non-competitive environment. Try your hand at beach volleyball on the Town's beautiful Canada Games Beach Volley Legacy Courts.

Participants are recommended to wear eye protection/sunglasses.

Program Length: July 6 - August 17 (excluding July 27)
Program Time: Monday at 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Location: Paradise Park (Canada Games Beach Volleyball Legacy Courts)
Admission: $20 per person
Ages: 12-17 years old

🏑 Teen Summer Sports Series

The Teen Summer Sports Series is a new pop-up program we are excited to offer to bring teens aged 13-17 years old together for fun, fitness, and friendships through a variety of sports throughout the summer. These activities will take place at various parks around Town on select dates in July and August. This series aims to encourage physical activity, foster community spirit, and provide a safe and inclusive environment for teens to explore new interests and hobbies. All skill levels welcome!

Peter Barry Duff Memorial Park – Ball Hockey (must bring own equipment - Hockey Stick, Gloves, and Helmet)
Lombardy Park – Pickleball (equipment will be provided)
Lanark Park – Basketball (equipment will be provided)
Paradise Park – Beach Volleyball (equipment will be provided)

🚴‍♀️ SprocKids - Beginning Riders (Ages 5 - 10)

Beginning Riders will focus on youth who are still learning how to stay upright and ride their bike, while building their confidence in a safe environment. In this program, our staff will assist youth and their accompanying caretakers with the basics of riding a bike using our SprocKids program as a resource.

Participants will need to bring their own bikes and helmets. Bikes must be in good working order and helmets must be fitted properly.

Please note that ages are a guideline; if your child is outside this age group and you feel they would fit in another group, please reach out to the Recreation Department to discuss via email recreation@paradise.ca

Schedule: Tuesday, 4:00 - 4:45 p.m.
Program Duration: July 7 - August 25
Location: Paradise Park and surrounding trails
Admission: $25

🚴‍♀️ SprocKids - (Ages 7 - 12) - CANCELLED

The SprocKids program is an 8-week program that practises bike riding skills. The program is a multi-tiered approach, designed to provide participants with the opportunity to experience success no matter what their riding skill level. The art of riding is broken down into smaller skills, where each new skill builds on a previous skill. Through the sport of cycling, youth develop a strong sense of self esteem by discovering and building on potential within themselves.

This program is designed for children who can independently and confidently ride a bike and ride for 30-45 minutes consistently. Participants will need to bring their own bikes and helmets. Bikes must be in good working order and helmets must be fitted properly.

The ages are a guideline; if your child is outside this age group and you feel they would fit this group, please reach out to the Recreation Department via email (recreation@paradise.ca) to discuss.

Schedule: Tuesday 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Program Duration: July 7 - August 25
Location: Paradise Park and surrounding trails
Admission: $25 per person

🚴‍♀️ SprocKids - Biking Adventures - (Ages 12 - 16) - CANCELLED

Biking Adventures is an 8-week bike-riding group that builds on the skills learned in our Sprockids program, with a greater focus on biking games, ramps, and longer group rides! Join us as we venture onto the many trails around the Paradise area!

This program is designed for children who love biking and are looking for more challenging skill development and terrain, who can ride for 60 - 90 minutes consistently.

Participants will need to bring their own bikes and helmets. Bikes must be in good working order and helmets must be fitted properly.

Please note that ages are a guideline; if your child is outside this age group and you feel they would fit this group, please reach out to the Recreation Department via email (recreation@paradise.ca) to discuss.

Schedule: Thursday, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Program Duration: July 9 - August 27
Location: Paradise Park and surrounding trails
Admission: $25 per person

🛹 Indoor Skate Park

Skate on over to our indoor Skate Park at the Paradise Double Ice Complex and sharpen your skills! We're pleased to be one of the few establishments to offer an indoor skate park for both youth and adults.

Participants are required to complete a waiver before riding (if you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian will have to sign the waiver), provide their own equipment, and wear a CSA-approved helmet at all times while riding. Equipment such as skateboards, scooters, and Rollerblades are not provided and bikes of any kind are not permitted.

This is a drop-in program with designated times for youth and adults. Admission for youth (7-17 years old) is $3 per person and $6 for adults (18 years or older).
