2026 Fall Programming

Walking is a great way to stay active and socialize with others! Residents can enjoy our indoor walking space free of charge from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Indoor walking shoes are required for participation; outdoor footwear must be removed before entering the gymnasium.

The Gentle Reset is a new 10-week community cohort designed to support the physical, mental, emotional and social recovery of new caregivers during the critical ā€œfourth trimesterā€ and beyond. This program is a fun approach to wellness with participation and resources from certified specialists, including a postpartum doula, board-certified music therapist, postnatal yoga instructor, and recreation practitioners, as well as community activities for staying active with your little one! This program is ideal for most newborns up until walking age.

Cornhole, the beloved game of North America! Two teammates take turns pitching bean bags at a target board, aiming for the perfect bullseye to score points and triumphantly hit 21 first. And the best part? The teams shuffle every round, so you never know who will be your next cornhole buddy. So, grab a bean bag, get your game on, and experience some light-hearted fun and socializing!

Get ready to slide into some fun with shuffleboard! The game involves using a cue to push a weighted disc across the board and rack up points in designated zones. Shuffleboard is a perfect partner game and each round, teams are picked at random. Plus, it's a low-impact, social activity that's sure to put a smile on your face!

Move over, baseball! There's a new MVP in town, and it's called Pickleball! This paddleball game has the best aspects of tennis, badminton, and table tennis and is the fastest growing sport in North America. It's a low-impact way to stay active and have a blast! You can team up with a buddy or play doubles with four players. So, grab your crew, and let's get pickling! With four courts available per time slot, we're thrilled to offer pickleball court rentals.

Saddle up for an introduction to Country Line Dancing classes. Colleen Hann takes her style of Country Line Dance to Paradise and she wants you to join her! This 6-week series of classes will show you the ropes and have you kicking up your heels in no time. If you are interested in keeping a beat and tapping away to fun country line dances, you won't want to miss out! Beginner-friendly. No prior experience is required, and all routines are taught step-by-step. Suitable for all ages and all are welcome!

Discover the traditional Newfoundland craft of rug hooking in this beginner-friendly five-week program. Through the simple process of pulling loops of fabric through a foundation, participants will learn the fundamentals of rug hooking while enjoying a relaxing, creative activity that supports overall personal wellness.

Guided by an experienced instructor from Hooked Creations NL, participants will learn the fundamentals of traditional Newfoundland rug hooking in a welcoming, hands-on environment. Participants will create their own traditional floor mat while exploring pattern design, colour selection, loop-pulling techniques, and finishing methods. No previous experience is required. Registration is required for $150 per person and opens on September 22 at 1:00 p.m. All supplies are included.Ā 

Whether you are looking to learn a traditional Newfoundland craft, connect with others, or enjoy a creative and relaxing hobby, this program offers a welcoming introduction to the art of rug hooking.

Program Outline

  • History of rug hooking in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Introduction to rug hooking tools and materials
  • Designing and transferring a simple pattern onto foundation fabric
  • Selecting and working with colour
  • Basic rug hooking techniques and pulling loops
  • Finishing and completing your project
