Special Recycling Drop-off

UPDATE - Tuesday, April, 7. 10:25 a.m.

Thank you residents for the respectful and cooperative participation at the Recycling Drop-off this morning (Tuesday, April 7).

Due to the response, we wish to advise the recycling trucks are approximately half full (as of 10:00 a.m.) and we expect the drop-off to end at midday today.

Based on the positive response to the special drop-off, we are planning to offer a weekly Recycling Drop-off. The details will be announced in the coming days. We thank everyone for their co-operation and patience as we adjust our operations as part of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

The Town is offering a special residential Recycling Drop-off as regular collection is suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Date: Tuesday, April 7

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, or once the trucks are full

Location:  Paradise Double Ice Complex Parking Lot

Two recycling trucks, one for cardboard / paper and one for containers, will be on-site and residents will be responsible for placing blue bags in the appropriate truck. Crews will not be available to assist residents at will putting recylcing in the trucks.

All recycling must be separated as either cardboard / paper or containers and in blue bags. All cardboard is to be in blue bags, no bundled cardboard will be accepted.

Physical distancing measures must be practiced at all times. Drivers must follow all signage and traffic directional measures in place.

This service is being offered for regular household recycling that would normally be collected curbside. Residents are asked to be respectful and only bring the recycling that has gathered since the COVID-19 pandemic caused the suspension of regular collection. (This is not meant to be an opportunity for “spring cleaning” of recyclables gathered in the house.) Regular recycling guidelines for what is accepted remain in effect and that information is available on the website.

Garbage is still being collected curbside as per the regular schedule, therefore no garbage will be collected at the Recycling Drop-off and no garbage trucks will be on site.
Residents must follow all the guidelines outlined below; if at any time they are not followed, the drop-off will be closed immediately and no further recycling opportunities will be provided. The health and safety of our workers and our residents is paramount during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Important Guidelines:

  • Recyclables must be separated as either cardboard / paper or containers and bagged accordingly. Guidelines for accepted materials are available on the website
  • Absolutely no glass items; glass is not accepted in the curbside recycling program.
  • All Cardboard must be in blue bags.
  • Physical distancing measures must be practiced at all times.
  • Drivers must follow all traffic calming and directional measures in place.
  • Drivers must remain in vehicles until they are in the unloading area.
  • Access to the Paradise Double Ice Complex Parking Lot is only available from Sarah Davis Way.
  • Crews will not be available to assist residents at any time; it is the sole responsibility of residents to place blue bags in the trucks. These measures are implemented for the health and safety of all involved and to ensure that current public health requirements are followed.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Paradise is taking measures to support public health advice to proactively help prevent the spread of the virus. Effective March 18, 2020, all Town facilities, including the Town Hall, are closed to the public, and operations are focused on providing core services to residents, such as garbage collection. This decision is made to protect the health and safety of Town employees to enable them to deliver required services. Full details are available on the webpage.
