
Let's celebrate winter fun throughout the month of February with our Snow and Ice in Paradise. We have events planned for all ages, from the young and young at heart. Check out the list of events below and pick out your favourites, it's going to be snow much fun!
| 🤝 Warming Paradise - February 13 - 22 |
| Help keep residents warm this February by donating new winter clothing. A bin will be available in the Paradise Double Ice Complex lobby for donation drop-off; all items will be given to the Gathering Place. After donating, feel free to write a warm message on our printed Snow and Ice Hat and stick it to our giving snowflake. |
| 🍷 Around the World (Wine and Chocolate Tasting) - Friday, February 13 |

Indulge your senses with wine from around the world, perfectly paired with delicious chocolate from SaltandSpruceNL. Explore five interactive stations, each offering a unique wine and chocolate pairing. As participants savour the flavours, they will also be treated to tidbits of information such as the region, history, and an explanation of the perfect pairing. To elevate the guest experience, each attendee will be given a custom-designed Wine Passport to reference the diverse tasting journey when purchasing wines they have enjoyed at the event. Do you have what it takes to be this year's Snow and Ice Cornhole Champion? Cornhole is gaining popularity and we're thrilled to have a friendly competition! All equipment will be provided by Cornhole NL and the tournament will be played as an American Cornhole League (ACL) Swap, where you'll have a new partner every game. Get ready to play at least four games, and if you're a top player, you'll be in the running for some sweet prizes! This is a 19+ event with bar service for those who want to wet their whistle. It's only $5.00 per card, and every penny goes back to local charities. Not only will you have a chance to win amazing prizes, but there's also a 50/50 draw and raffle prizes to sweeten the pot. | 🏒 Frozen Face-off (Youth Ball Hockey) - Monday, February 16 |

We’re excited to host a Frozen Face-off, a youth ball hockey event, as part of our Snow & Ice Festival! Participants will warm up with fun drills led by one of our experienced Recreation Workers to build basic skills, followed by an organized game with 2-minute shifts, allowing everyone to participate. Players must bring their own hockey stick, helmet, gloves, and running shoes. While not mandatory, we recommend additional gear such as shin pads, elbow pads, and other protective equipment for extra safety. In partnership with Courtney Fowler Performance Academy (CFPA), we’re bringing the magic of Broadway to the Town's Snow & Ice Festival! This fun-filled workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to learn a performance number—complete with singing, dancing, and loads of fun! This class is for ages 6-14 and open to all skill levels. Parents are invited for the last 15 minutes to watch their child’s hard work come to life at the final performance. Are you all in for our Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament? The KIN Club of Paradise will be running the show with cash prizes and alcohol service available throughout the evening. Space is limited with nine tables and a maximum of ten players per table. After one hour of play, participants have the option to rebuy and/or top up to keep the excitement going. Enjoy a brisk walk around Adam's Pond with a unique twist! Participants will be handed glow sticks and a backlight to help uncover a secret message along the trail. The walk will begin at the Lanark Community Garden at 6:00 p.m. sharp. It's the perfect opportunity to connect with friends, enjoy the fresh air, and have some fun! Pets are welcome—as long as they are on a leash! After the walk, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate provided by the Town of Paradise at the Lanark Community Garden. Show off your skills in a Nerf battle! Round up a few of your friends and head over to the Paradise Double Ice Complex for an hour of fun. Put your skills to the test as you hide behind obstacles and cover zones, take down your opponents, and shoot your shot for your team’s victory! There will be five 10-minute rounds for teams to claim bragging rights. Participants will receive a Nerf Blaster, darts, and protective eyewear, but are encouraged to wear athletic wear and to bring a water bottle. Space is limited, so register early to secure your spot! Road Trips! Playlists! Memories! Buckle up for a joyride down memory lane with Spirit of Newfoundland’s latest musical comedy, “Shift Happens…at 100 Smiles per Hour”. Get ready to laugh, reminisce, and sing along as we celebrate the cars that carried us through life’s many smooth and rocky road adventures! Relive the laughter, fun, trouble, and the unforgettable tunes that turned every road trip into a concert on wheels. Whether it’s a May 2-4 camping escapade or just cruising around town, the radio was always cranked up, filling the car with the soundtrack of your life. Join us as we relive it all. From the people our cars carried to the songs they played, and the stories shared within their four doors, this show is a hilarious and heartwarming tribute to our automotive companions. Refresh your bookshelf at our first ever Community Book Swap! Discover hidden gems or find your next read when you swap an old book for a new one. Here's how it works. During the week leading up to the event, drop off the books you'd like to swap at the Paradise Double Ice Complex reception and receive one ticket. Participants can receive up to 10 tickets they can use to exchange for any book on the day of the event. We're also happy to provide complementary tea, coffee, and refreshments while you browse. It's a great opportunity to share your love for books with others and share your favourite reads on our Community Recommendations Board. Add something beautiful to your home at our candle making workshop! Led by Diana from Not Just Candles, participants will learn tips and tricks on how to make their own unique candle. Diana has years of experience in her craft and is excited to share her creative process. Participants can choose from a variety of moulds, including teddy bears, whales, and sea shells, and more! Get your friends together for our Snow and Ice Winter Gaming Carnival! In partnership with Sandbox Gaming, we're hosting an all ages Gaming Carnival for video and board game lovers. Choose from a variety of fun activities, including miniature painting tutorials, Casual Magic trading card game, board game demos, video games, virtual reality, tabletop wargaming, and more! We’ll also put participants' skills to the test in organized tournaments, including Mario Kart, SMASH Ultimate, Mario Party Jamboree (mini game tournament), TowerFall, Suika Game (high score challenge) and Ticket to Ride. Enjoy hot food and canteen service as you get together with friends for hours of fun. A portion of the money raised will be donated to a registered charity, chosen by Sandbox Gaming, that promotes play and development for children and youth.
