Skating Guidelines

  • All participants must check-in at reception and provide a name and number for contact tracing.
  • Only 90 participants total are to be permitted within each Rink (on ice and designated viewing/seating areas).
  • All participants must have a COVID-19 Waiver signed prior to attending any activity. For children 18 years and under, this waiver must be completed by their parent/guardian.
  • Children 8 years and under are to be accompanied by an adult.
  • All participants are to wear CSA approved helmets when on the ice surfaces.
  • Hockey sticks/pucks are only permitted during Shinny’s not Skates.
  • Dressing rooms will be open for use. However, if there are more than 9 people within a dressing room, masks are required.
  • We do ask that you come as prepared as possible to help limit the number of people in a dressing room. If possible, skate guards are to be worn in the building.
  • Payments will only be accepted via Debit or Credit (No AMEX). Cash is not being accepted at this time. Debit/Credit receipts will be used as your “ticket” to enter the rink for each skate. Make sure you do not misplace your receipt, as copies cannot be re-printed.
  • The Town will be following all public health orders. Participants 5 years & older must wear a mask while in common areas. Masks are not required while on the ice but social distancing between cohorts is required.
  • If you are unwell, we kindly ask that you remain home until you are 24 hours symptom-free.

If you require additional assistance or space to change into skates for accessibility reasons, please let our staff know.

As per the Town's Helmet Policy, all participants of on-ice activities are required to wear a Canadian Standard Association (CSA) approved helmet whenever they enter the ice surface at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. This applies to all public skating sessions, private rentals, schools  groups, camps  etc. The only exceptions are for the sport organizations that are governed by their own rules and insurances - such as figure skating clubs.

The Town is continually evaluating and adjusting operations as per current public health guidelines. The situation on COVID-19 is continually evolving and the Town is constantly reviewing information as it becomes available. The Town is also liaising with neighbouring municipalities and provincial and federal government departments / agencies to ensure coordinated approaches and responses to the COVID-19 situation.
