Looking to get active? The Town of Paradise offers several fitness programs! From beginner to advanced classes, we have a variety of options to help you get healthy and active.

Fall Classes

Registration for our 2019 fall classes opens 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3 and is available online only through the Town’s Recreation PortalFor more information, or if you have any questions on our classes, please email or call (709) 782-6290 .

We look forward to a fun and active fall season with the following classes that begin the week of Monday, September 9.

General Classes

Core Fit!
Time: Saturday - 11:00 a.m.

Cost: $65 for one 13 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

A strong core is a vital ingredient to a strong body. This class will challenge you front to back while helping to improve your coordination and balance with the use of  functional, balance, and body weight exercises. This is a full-body workout with an emphasis on core exercises. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.

Functional Fitness *NEW!*

Time: Monday or Thursday – 9:00 a.m.

Cost: $65 for one 13 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

Start your day off right with a complete head to toe workout that focuses on mobility and joint health while strengthening your muscles. A class that will help prepare the body for real-life movements and activities. A 50 minute class that will be sure to break a sweat and have you feeling your best! Suitable for all ages & fitness levels.

Multi-Fit

Time: Thursday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $65 for one 13 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

Looking for variety in your workout that includes all disciplines of fitness in the one class? With cardiovascular, functional, and strength training exercises, this class is for you! With modifications available, this class is suitable for all fitness levels in a high energy group setting.

PiYo *NEW*

Time: Tuesday - 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $65 for one 13 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

PiYo offers an unparalleled workout experience. Get ready to strengthen, lengthen, and fall in love with the beautiful flowing movement in this mat class. Not only will you feel strong and beautiful, you’ll work up a sweat discovering muscles you never knew you had! Get ready for a stretch, strength, and balance challenge set to music that makes you want to move.

PiYo brings the physical and mental benefits of yoga into the group exercise room, with the added bonus of a major caloric burn. Using only your body weight, you’ll perform a series of high-intensity, low-impact moves that will work every single muscle for a long, lean, and incredibly defined physique. With its focus on flexibility and core strength, it’s the perfect option for members who are looking for something that’s low-impact and delivers results for every age and fitness level.

POUND

Time: Monday or Wednesday - 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $65 for one 13 week time slot, or $6 per class (when space is available).

POUND is a mash-up of almost every exercise out there including, Pilates, isometrics, plyometrics, and even a bit of dance, all done to some amazing tunes. It’s fun, upbeat, and a great way to de-stress and will leave you feeling like a rock star. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.

Spin Class
Time: Monday or Wednesday - 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $91 for one 13 week time slot, or $8 per class (when space is available).

Spin Class is an effective workout that allows you to train in the offseason or for healthy living. Offering varied routines, spin class is suitable for all ability levels and is sure to burn calories.

TurboKick *NEW*

Time:  Tuesday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $65 for one 13 week time slot or $6 per class (when space is available).

The ultimate cardio-kickboxing experience, Turbo Kick is perfect for the beginner and elite fitness enthusiast alike! This fat-burning workout combines cardio kickboxing with body-sculpting HIIT moves choreographed to the hottest music mixes. Get lean, get toned, and feel unstoppable in the class that’s high-energy and super addicting! With Turbo Kick, every class is a party. We bring out the music and pump up the energy, kicking and punching our way to knockout results. And when the entire room is in rhythm, it’s easy to forget you’re working out! Ready to become a total knockout?

 

Yoga Classes

Beginners Yoga 

Time: Monday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $52 for one 13 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Stay limber longer! As time goes on, we tend to become more inflexible, eventually leading to many restrictions in our daily lives. This class focuses on maintaining and improving flexibility while stretching through a series of yoga movements. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.

Gentle Flow Yoga & Meditation at St. Thomas Community Centre 

Time: Saturday - 9:00 a.m.

Cost: $52 for one 13 week time slot. Registration is available in full only. (2 week intermission)

This yoga and meditation class is intended for beginners or those looking for a gentle morning practice. The class explores fundamental yoga postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, and meditation in a non-competitive and supportive environment. In this class, you will move in and out of postures slowly, with strong focus on safe alignment and breath. Practicing yoga will allow you to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and relaxation. This 60 minute class promotes a heightened sense of awareness and wellbeing to begin your day. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, blanket and pillow.

Intermediate & Master Yoga

Time: Thursday - 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $52 for one 13 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Moving through sequences from basic to complex, this master class will maintain awareness and focus on the breath while working towards moving through advanced postures. This style of yoga builds heat, flexibility and strength, while maintaining focus on good alignment and sound structure. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.

Intro to Yoga *NEW*

Time: Wednesday - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $52 for one 13 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

New to Yoga, or have never tried a class? Not feeling flexible or coordinated? This yoga class is intended for pre beginner wannabe Yogi’s or those looking for a very basic introduction to the world of Yoga! 

This class explores the foundations of yoga, standing and sitting postures, proper breathing techniques, and relaxation and balance. Each week you will explore a new dimension of the practise including synchronizing breath to movement, safe alignment, and the physical benefits of yoga. Practicing yoga will help improve your overall health and wellness by allowing you to gain strength, improve flexibility and develop balance.  This 50 minute class promotes a heightened sense of awareness and wellbeing in a slower paced, non-competitive and supportive environment.

Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, blanket, yoga blocks and yoga strap.

Relaxation Lunch Time Yoga 

Time: Monday, Wednesday or Friday - 12:30 p.m.

Cost: $52 for one 13 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Brighten your mid-day with serenity. Take a break from your computer and the office to recharge with 40 minutes of gentle yoga stretching. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.

Sunrise Yoga *New* 

Time: Monday or Wednesday - 6:30 a.m.

Cost: $40 for one 10 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

Join us during this divine time when your energy levels are at its peak! A gentler, less intensive yoga that’s perfect for all fitness levels. Sunrise yoga will help increase and improve your flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, and will help reduce stress. Start your morning off right with clarity, creativity and peace of mind with this easy to learn, enjoyable, and long lasting sense of calming benefits crucial for taking on this sometimes hectic, fast paced world. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.

YogaSTRONG *NEW*

Time: Saturday - 10:00 a.m.

Cost: $52 for one 13 week time slot, or $5 per class (when space is available).

A more dynamic version of traditional yoga, this 50 minute class is low impact with a focus on isometric strength drills. Focusing on different parts of the body, this class is great for anyone looking to increase strength that may lack mobility or endurance. With the addition of extra resistance through light hand weights and resistance bands this class is a great way to work your muscles in new ways!
