The municipalities of St. John’s, Conception Bay South (CBS), Mount Pearl, Paradise, Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, and Torbay are holding a regional food drive throughout the month of February during winter festival events. In response to the recent fire at the Community Food Sharing Association warehouse, residents are encouraged to help re-stock the food bank by donating non-perishable food items when attending a community event in February. On January 15, 2019, an agreed order was issued by the Supreme Court on the Office of the Privacy Commissioner Report P-2018-003 with respect to the video surveillance system for the Town of Paradise. The order states that the Town does not have to comply with the recommendations of the original report, that all cameras in public areas can continue to operate, and that seven cameras are to operate only after regular working hours. The Town of Paradise Council Meetings begin at a new time starting this month. The Public Council Meetings will begin at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, located at Paradise Town Hall, 28 McNamara Drive. The next Public Council Meeting is Tuesday, January 8, 2019. The Public Meeting on January 8 is the first one under the revised format.
