Patrick Martin was first elected to council in 2013 and re-elected in September 2017. Patrick and his wife Christine are formerly from the Burin Peninsula and decided 14 years ago Paradise was the perfect town to raise a family. It was here they welcomed four children; oldest Patrick, twins Spencer and Sarah, and the youngest Lance.
With a house full of active children Patrick has many connections within the community. For the past 10 years he has been a Leader with Scouts Canada, with both Beavers & Cubs. He has also coached minor hockey for the past three years. He is currently Chair of the Mount Pearl Intermediate School Council and a Board Member for Visions Employment.
Two of Patrick's and Christine's boys have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, and Patrick has stepped up to be an advocate for his boys as well as all children on the spectrum. He participates in the annual Motocycle Ride for Autism and as a family the Martin's participate in the annual Walk For Autism, both fundraising for our local Autism Society.
During his term Patrick has acted as Co chair to the Planning Committee, sat on the North East Avalon Joint Council, and the Youth Advisory Committee. He is currently Chair of the Recreation and Community Services Committee and a member of the Planning and Protective Services Committee. Patrick is dedicated to creating a fully inclusive community for all residents.
