The Town is offering an After School Program for the 2025-2026 school year. The After School Program is organized with activities that are fun, social and educational, while still ensuring the required measures are in place for participants and staff.

The 2025-2026 After School Program will run from September to June, 2026.

Registration for the 2025-2026 After School Program opens for Paradise residents on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, and non-Paradise Residents on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Full program details, including registration details, are outlined below.

Program Information

The After School Program is for children ages 4 to 12 years old (Kindergarten - Grade 6). Children must be currently enrolled in kindergarten starting September 2025.

The total program cost from September to June is $1,500 per child.

Note: Any additional costs are minimal, and will be noted in your registration package.

The available methods of payment are:

Online - Full Payment

  • The online registration system accepts full payment of fees by Visa and MasterCard; Interac online is not available.

In Person - Full Payment

  • Full payment is accepted at the Reception Desk at the Paradise Double Ice Complex and this option requires the payment to be made in full by 4:00 p.m. on July 16, 2025. There are no exceptions. Payments can be made by credit card over the phone to 709.782.6290 or by debit in person at the Reception Desk at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. Payments cannot be made by cheque. If payments are not made by 4:00 p.m. on July 16, 2025, the full registration space will be automatically withdrawn.

The program runs from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each week day.

Drop-off time is strictly between 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Drop-off

Drop off is between 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Parents/Guardians dropping off their child(ren) to program have the option to drop off at the designated location (see picture below) or accompany their child inside to the ASP room, using the main entrance of the Paradise Double Ice Complex.

Children arriving by bus from school will be signed in by bus driver.

For drop off, all vehicles must use Sarah Davis Way to access the designated drop off location. When you arrive, you must call the After School Program phone number and staff will meet program participants to escort them into program.

Pick-up

Parents/Guardians have the option to use the designated pick-up location (see picture below) or come inside to the ASP room, using the main entrance of the Paradise Double Ice Complex to pick up their child(ren).

Parents/Guardians using the designated pick-up location must call the After School Program phone number when you arrive, and staff will help get your child(ren) ready and escort them to your vehicle.

All children must be picked up by 5:30 p.m.

Only those listed on the registration form will be authorized to pick up your child(ren), unless otherwise communicated to staff.

Provincial public health guidelines have outlined eligibility criteria for all After School Programs and all participants in the 2025-2026 After School Program must follow the criteria.

If your child falls into one or more of these categories, they may require a respite worker in order to register for After School Program:

  • Children should be fully toilet trained, as parents / guardians will not be permitted to enter and leave the program area to tend to personal care needs unless pre-approved by the Town within public health guidelines. Staff may prompt children for personal care procedures, but may not physically assist. Alternatively, children who require assistance with toileting may be accompanied to the program by an independently hired respite worker.
  • Children should be able to feed themselves independently. Alternatively, children who require assistance with feeding may be accompanied to the program by an independently hired respite worker.
  • Additional screening questions may include: Will your child attend with an independently hired respite worker? Does your child require assistance with hand washing?

Registration for the 2025-2026 After School Program is online only. The system enables enrollment and payment for the program.

Once you have accessed the registration portal you will need to either "Create an Account" or "Logon to Account". For further instructions, please visit Creating a Public Access Account page. It is recommended that registrants create an account prior to the registration date.

Registration opens to Paradise Residents ONLY on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Proof of residency is required. Total of 40 registration spaces are available for this year, is as follows:

  • Grades K-2 (Group A): Registration opens at 1:00 p.m. (20 spaces available)
  • Grades 3-6 (Group B): Registration opens 3:00 p.m. (20 spaces available)

Once registration is complete, if any remaining spaces are available, registration to non-Paradise residents will open on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.

Registration is done on a first-come basis and due to limited space, parents / guardians may only register one family's child / children. MCP Number for child / children being registered for the program is required at the time of registration.

Please register under child’s name and correct information that will be attending the program, including all allergies or medical information we need to be aware of.

The Town strives to offer an inclusive program within the means and capabilities of staff and program guidelines.

The After School Program does not offer personal care or some forms of physical assistance. Participants must be able to attend to all personal, bathroom and hygiene matters independently.

Respite workers independently hired by guardians can accompany participants with the understanding they are solely responsible for the personal and physical needs of the individual. Respite workers must remain with the participant for the entire duration of programming, including meal times. Respite works must provide the Town with a clear Code of Conduct with a Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • Refunds will only be given for medical reasons with a doctor's note provided.
  • Children are required to bring their own snacks as well as an extra water bottle and sunscreen (when required).
  • Children should come prepared for outdoor play for all weather conditions.
  • We are not responsible for any lost, stolen or broken items.
