Not sure what you should do with household hazardous waste, paint, tires, and electronics? See below for the programs available in your area.

Household hazardous waste

Household hazardous waste is collected at the HHW facility located in the Residential Drop-off Facility at Robin Hood Bay. It is open two days a week, year-round, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Paint recycling program

Residents can now recycle left over paint. Just take it to a Product Care collection site for recycling and do your part for the environment. To find a paint collection site near you, visit: https://www.productcare.org/products/paint/newfoundland/ or call 1-888-772-9772.

Used tire program

Consumers can leave their used tires, at no cost, with a tire retailer upon the purchase of new tires. However, they can also be returned to a tire retailer at a later date in manageable quantities (four to five tires) during the retailer's normal business hours.

Tires that are accepted include passenger tires, light truck tires, commercial truck tires, and motorcycle tires. The used tires must be in whole form, free of mud and debris and the rims must be removed prior to returning to a tire retailer.

For more information about the used tire recycling program, visit: www.mmsb.nl.ca/recyclingprograms/used-tires/

Electronic products recycling program

Residents and businesses can recycle their old electronics and help divert potentially hazardous materials from the landfill by dropping off their unwanted electronics at a drop-off centre located throughout the province.

Visit: www.recyclemyelectronics.ca/nl/ to find out the nearest recycling drop off centre and to find out what electronics are accepted in the program.
