The Town reminds residents of the wind warning in effect for our area, which is expected to continue until Friday (November 25) morning. Residents should secure any outside items such as garbage bins, Christmas decorations, and other items that may be blown around in high winds. It is also recommended to have basic supplies on-hand to be prepared for possible power outages. This year’s Fire Chief for the Day is Paradise resident Chibuokem Iwuala. As part of her busy day being Chief, today (November 18) she visited St. John's Regional Fired Department, Paradise Fire Station No. 8 and met with Mayor Dan Bobbett. Her contest winning poster demonstrated the strong message of Fire Prevention Week “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape!”. Congratulations Chibuolem!

UPDATE: The planned power outage for civic addresses between 8-26 (only even numbers) Ashgrove Drive is now scheduled for Tuesday, November 22 and Wednesday, November 23. The power outage will be 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, and the power will be restored by 3 p.m. each day.

The Town of Paradise advises that a new pedestrian trail is being constructed at Top Pond in Elizabeth Park. The work involves constructing 300 metres of new granular trail along the south edge of the pond. The project is expected to start Monday, November 14, and take approximately four weeks to complete. The construction of the trail will involve heavy equipment in the area and for the safety of all residents, this area will be closed to the public during the work. The Town reminds all residents that municipal confined spaces, such as storm drain catch basins, are not for public access nor are they safe to occupy. Any time a resident notices any unusual activity in Town infrastructure, please contact the Town immediately at 782-1400 and staff will respond accordingly. At no time should a resident access a municipal confined space. Staff who are required to work in these areas are trained so that they may access and work in them safely, including wearing all...
