Rovers Search and Rescue showed off the technological capabilities of their new Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) at an event held at their headquarters on March 13. Mayor Dan Bobbett attended the event to see the drone in action and bring greetings on behalf of the Town and regional municipalities.
As a volunteer organization, the Rovers play an integral part in rescue and first responder operations throughout the region, and the addition of this new drone will enhancing their search and rescue capabilities....

Update 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2: Topsail Road is now re-opened to all traffic.
The St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are on the scene of a fire at 1495 Topsail Road.
Topsail Road from Paradise Road to Trails End Drive is closed; please avoid area & use alternate route.
Residents in the area are asked to turn off home HVAC / air exchanger systems due to smoke in the area. Residents may also experience decrease in water pressure.

The municipalities of St. John’s, Conception Bay South (CBS), Mount Pearl, Paradise, Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, and Torbay are holding a regional food drive throughout the month of February during winter festival events. In response to the recent fire at the Community Food Sharing Association warehouse, residents are encouraged to help re-stock the food bank by donating non-perishable food items when attending a community event in February.
