Tonight (Tuesday, January 21), street widening with the large snow blowers will be completed on streets in the Octagon Pond Elementary School Area and Paradise Elementary School Area. Residents are asked to ensure no vehicles are parked on the street and please keep a safe distance from all equipment. We thank residents for their ongoing cooperation as crews complete the snow clearing work.

The State of Emergency remains in place in the Town of Paradise with a temporary lift daily between 6 a.m. to midnight. This will ensure that vehicles are not on Town roads at night which greatly assists snow clearing efforts.

Crews are working around the clock to deal with the record snowfall that has hit our Town and the region. It is reported that over 90 cms of snow fell in Paradise. Overnight on Sunday all Town roads received at least one cut and today (Monday) street widening was underway. On roads that do not have a curb and gutter, loaders have been able to push the snow back and many of those roads have been widened with crews continuing to make progress....Posted on Monday, January 20, 2020 04:15 PM
Until further notice, the Town of Paradise will temporarily lift the state of emergency daily between 6 a.m. to midnight. This will ensure that vehicles are not on Town roads at night which greatly assists snow clearing efforts. On Tuesday, January 21, the Town Hall will open for employees and the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Paradise Double Ice Complex will open for employees, but it is closed to the public and all recreation programming is cancelled. The provincial emergency operations centre is now open and can be reached at 709.729.3703. The line will be available from 9:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. daily. Seniors, persons with disabilities, and other residents who may need assistance snow clearing are asked to call the line. Those who call the line are asked to be patient as calls are prioritized on basis of need and not on a first-come, first serve basis. Residents of the Town of Paradise can call this centre for snow clearing support.
