Many residents are asking why the Town is temporarily lifting the state of emergency starting Monday, January 20. There were many factors considered and the Town did consult with neighbouring municipalities before making any decisions. Effective tomorrow, Monday, January 20, the Town of Paradise will temporarily lift the state of emergency from the hours of 6 a.m. and midnight daily. Starting Monday, and until further notice, all businesses are required to close by midnight daily. No vehicles are permitted on Town roads from the hours of midnight to 6am to allow for snow clearing operations to continue unimpeded. The Town of Paradise advises that the state of emergency remains in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2020. During this State of Emergency, Eastern Health has made an urgent request to allow for regional pharmacies to open. In order for residents to obtain necessary medication the City of St. John’s, City of Mount Pearl, the Town of Paradise and the Town of Torbay are allowing pharmacies to open between the hours of noon and 7 p.m. today (Sunday, January 19). The Town of Paradise remains under a state of emergency. Snow clearing operations are underway. The Town is not able to give specific updates, there are many factors affecting snow clearing operations of this magnitude.
