Due to deteriorating weather conditions, effective 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, the Town of Paradise has suspended snow clearing operations. For the safety of operators, all equipment is being returned to the Town depot and snow clearing operations will not resume until the weather conditions improve to safely do so. Due to current weather conditions, the Town of Paradise has declared a state of emergency. All businesses are to close and all non-essential workers are asked to stay home. All residents are ordered to stay off Town roads until the state of emergency is lifted. At this time, Town plows are operational and clearing Topsail Road and collector roads. With the severe winter storm forecast to hit the region within the next 24 hours, the Town of Paradise provided the following update on its plans and operations. Due to the weather, all Town recreation facilities, including the Paradise Double Ice Complex and the Rotary Paradise Youth and Community Centre will close at 5 p.m. today, Sunday, January 5, 2020. With the early closure, the public skate scheduled for 4:30 p.m. is cancelled for today. There will be a delayed opening for Town recreation facilities on Monday, January 6, 2020; an update will be provided by 7 a.m. on Monday.
