Street widening with the large snow blowers is ongoing Thursday night (January 23). Crews continue in the Karwood area and Thomas Estates area. Crews are also working at intersections along Topsail Road to improve sight distances. Hydrant clearing is ongoing overnight. Residents are asked to ensure no vehicles are parked on the street and please keep a safe distance from all equipment. We'll provide an further update in the morning. The Town understands the inconvenience of cancelling garbage and recycling collection for a full week. To assist residents, the Town is offering a special garbage and recycling drop-off on Friday, January 24. For residents who are able, garbage and recycling can be dropped off at the Milton Road Ball Field from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All garbage and recycling must be in proper bags and staff will be on site. Regular garbage and recycling collection resumes on Tuesday, January 28.

Update issued 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 23 The state of emergency for the Town of Paradise will be lifted effective 6:00 a.m. Friday, January 24. Based on the current progress of snow clearing and street widening operations, the Town is now in a position to be able to lift the state of emergency. Street widening operations for Thursday, January 23 - crews will be finishing up the streets Elizabeth Park from last night and then move to Karwood Area. The following streets are scheduled to be completed: Goldfinch Drive, Cloudberry Drive, and Hudsonberry Drive. Please ensure all vehicles are moved off the streets, stay away from snow banks and road ways, and keep a safe distance from all equipment.
